For all you Hef fans out there.

I had a boss about 5 years ago that thought robes were gay too. I always thought that had to be the biggest homophoibic thing I've ever heard of.

And I'm talking bathrobes, no college grad robes here now.

I'm far from a Hef fan (maybe the opposite of one?) but I regularly wear my Lands' End fleece robe. It gets cold up here in Vermont!

Two at the moment. One is a ratty old terrycloth number that hangs on the door of an upstairs bathroom and is perfect for those times when I jump out of the tub and need somethng to throw on to keep warm while shaving on chilly mornings. The other is a burgundy silk, styled after dressing gowns of the 40s (an eBay purchase from J. Peterman that was part of some promotional tie-in that they had when the movie L.A. Confidential came out.) Each serves its purposes well.

I have this lambswool robe from Brooks Brothers. It's very warm and looks quite dapper, but it's only partially lined so not comfortable to wear solo. Made in England, and easy to obtain on sale (I got it at 25% off, I think).

I have a nice paisley-patterned cotton dressing gown from some random department store that I wear occasionally but would like a nice silk one too. It's fairly low down my list of purchases though.

Soph - your (?ex-)boss' comment is just daft.

I do not wear robes, but I use them as a bath towels. basically once i step out of the shower I put on a robe instead of rubing myself with a towel.
I have two extra thick egiptian cotton robes one with a hood for wet hair.
One usually hangs in my bathroom and another one in my sauna.
I cannot imagine life without a bathrobe.

My wool one isn't lined, either. Is it possible to get a tailor to sew in a lining? Any idea how much that would cost?

One white terry-cloth, complimentary from some hotel, disintegrating from being used as towelling robe and being laundered as towel. One pseudo-japanese kimono thing in cotton, useful for travelling and staying in other peoples' houses. I had my grandfather's black silk forties' dressing-gown for a period of ten years or so, but wore it to tatters. It was brand new when I got it - he was less of a lounging type than me. What I really want is this:

Yes, a basic navy blue terrycloth robe from Sears or Penney's or somewhere like that... it was a Christmas present... I wear it every morning.
