First I wanted to tell everybody on the styleforum that your insights and opinions have been invaluable and that in my opinion you have made this the very best site there is on mens style. The reason I am posting today is I have to go to a wedding in late October and it will be loaded with wealthy people and very fashionable people as well..I'm sure everybody will be dressed to the hilt so basically I want to show up looking my best. I'm planning on going next week and having a suit made my question to everyone is if you could only wear one suit, shirt, tie combination which would it be and what style suit would you have made..my goal is to be really dressed beautifully. I am really counting the styleforum members to help me out on this one..thanks for your help.

Don't get distracted by the money aspect of things as the truly wealthy often don't dress well whatsoever. The biggest thing is etiquette, and knowing what to do, when to do it, and with whom to do it.

If I was in your position, I would do the following:

Charcoal, single breasted, double vent
No break
Trim fit
White shirt
Hermes patterned tie
White linen pocket square
Black cap toes

It is classic, but the fun in the tie can really help define you. The important thing to remember is that you want to look your best, but you don't want to upstage the bride and groom. The biggest piece of advice is to ensure that the button stance is correct so that you can leave it buttoned even when sitting.

Thanks that sounds really nice..any color ideas for the tie?

I like usctrojans' list, but I'd say you could go a little farther with the pocket square. Why not pick a square with colors that complement, not match, your tie and the season?

Tom Ford is either RTW or MTM, and not a tailor...

Where do you live?

I'd agree with most of this, but I'd change the suit to navy and the tie to a wedding tie (most likely a black & white glen check).

Cutting it close, no? I have never had a suit made, but am told it can be a long process with many fittings to bring a truly bespoke garment to life. Have you factored in the time required before your event? Do you already have a particular craftsmen in mind? Will he be able to accommodate you?

Also, double breasted is a great look, a real classic, but also a little dated to some eyes these days. I am just saying....
