College... - Page 2

Cut out the beer. It's one of the quickest ways to cut down on calories in college. Stick to hard booze and you'll be removing a few thousand calories a week if you're anything like me.

Find a source of motivation. Diet is relatively easy to fix, but sticking to it is a bitch.

Do this with a buddy. Same as the above. When it becomes a competition it gets easier to stick to.

2) Don't mix proteins and starches

This doesn't sound as asinine as everyone else is making it out to be. I've done quite a bit of researching in my weight loss, but never looked into the science behind protein + starch combination. Definitely throws off a lot of the meals I've been eating, but I'll do a bit more research 'til I decide to ditch the steak 'n baked potato routine.

I'd really love to see the science behind that shit as well, please cite the references f you find any.

I can't find any scientific articles (though they tend to lag like a bitch and are rarely conclusive) but I found these:

umm yeah. that's pretty much bs.

fuuu: what i meant to say was insulin rises more when you combine protein and carbs than just carbs. total brain fart. fingers didnt type what brain was thinking.
and if you want to keep your muscles you want insulin spikes.

also wtf? eating protein and carbs does not cause acid reflux.
