I'll PM you if you I find one, if you promise you'd do the same. Then again, don't bother. By the time either of us see the message, it will be too late. Stock of these seem only to last about .0025 seconds when they hit any store, brick or online.

I don't understand why anyone would want one of these things?

Aaron's have them in stock with a "bundled" carrying case, but depending on your location, they may or may not:

1. Insist that you lease or buy another (more expensive) piece of computer equipment

2. Allow you to purchase subject to their standard 20% cash discount

The knock - the price is $179.99 before any discount. So even under the best scenario, you're really paying about a $20 - $40 mark-up since there is no shipping. That is still way cheaper than eBay.

if you get one make sure to install available updates and overclock. Night and day from when it came out of the box.

Is there any risk to the overclocking? Everyone says to do it, but I'm not sure if it's worth it if there is any chance it will brick the thing.

It comes underclocked, so all you are really doing is running it at the clock rate it was built to run at. I wouldn't go over 1.5ghz...

Oh and is my epic thread on the Touchpad not enough for your guys? confused.gif

Sorry Mouse, didn't see your epic thread. I"ll post on that one from now on. But, maybe I won't be posting anything. Below, quoted email I got from HP...

Reading between the lines, this tells me HP will start selling the few thousand they have left at like 5 AM on a Sunday, and be completely sold out by 5:02 AM. Played this game before with other products, I give up on the Touchpad officially now.

Besides, I just renewed my Verizon cell contract, and was offered an iPhone 4 for around 50 bucks after rebates and gimmes....couldn't pass it up. No interest in a tablet of any kind anymore, but I *am* now coveting a Nook Touch. Going to put my Nook Classic on craiglist and upgrade.

I'm really happy with mine. Been a great tablet so far.

My advice to everyone has been to keep an eye on Ebay. When this firesale hit a lot of people bought them for the sole purpose of resell to make a profit. Check the links to Slickdeals I posted in my thread. Numerous members of the forum got 10 or more. So what does this mean? As everyone receives their Touchpads, the supply on Ebay will quickly outstrip the demand. More so as the hype for these things starts to fade away. Lots of these Touchpads on Ebay will go unsold and prices will fall as the sellers try to just get their money back. I wouldn't be surprised if the average selling price for the $99 model hits around $125 or so as time goes by. Even if you have to spend a little over what HP was selling them for, it's still a fantastic deal.

Not to keep pimping my thread, but there is a wealth of good information on the HP Touchpad and WebOS in it at this point. Links to the best places to track sales and everything you need to know to optimize and hack the thing. It also is sounding like an Android 3.x port is going to be hitting soon, but I'm going to wait for a dual-boot option so I don't have to trash WebOS.

Although javyn, if you are bought into B&N's NOOK ecosystem, I am not sure a Touchpad is a good buy. No NOOK app. They do have a Kindle one. You would have to wait for the Android ports.

This is what I've found also. The battery life hasn't noticeably suffered. I'm not a tech-savvy guy and it was reassuring that the process was relatively simple.

I'm not tied to any "ecosystem" but I do like the epub format. smile.gif

I luckily got 2, one for me and one for a friend. I had 3 separate orders just in case one got cancelled: B&N [jerks], BB, and HP directly. B&N got canceled along with everyone else. HP never even sent a confirmation email or cancellation email, very weird. And BB came in without issues which was surprising.
