CEGO Shirts

Hi guys,

Not sure if the shirtmaven still follows SF but I was thinking about getting some shirts made by him. I am 6'2' 160 lbs and usually RLBL shirts fit me the best. I was thinking however that going with CEGO might save me some money and possibly fit better. The RLBL shirts cost $325 unless I find them on sale.

Any advice on fabrics and what to expect with regards to price? What fabric would you recommend. What fabric is used in the shirts by RLPL?

From speaking to Carl, I recall he told me his fabrics range from $95 to $450, with the bulk between $125 and $195.  In my experience he's incredibly helpful with fabric recommendations once you show up.  Highly recommended!

+1. Just go see him.

I have three shirts from him, and they're the best I've ever owned. He's excellent about fabric and style choices.

As others have said, just go see him.

I'm your exact dimensions, have had trouble finding RTW shirts, and had good success buying two linen shirts from Carl, one on sale for $150 and one that he had to order the fabric for for $180. Wear your best fitting shirt and tell him what you like/don't like about it. I highly recommend it.

For what it's worth, there are some good Barbas at shopthefinest.com that also fit me very well for about $140, in case your looking for more RTW. But try Carl.

thethinman, what size do you wear in the barbas?

15.5, 35.25 arms, 42.5 chest (I could probably go down to 41.5 chest, but 42.5 works).

Took a trip to CEGO this week. Things seem to have improved from what I expected after reading much of the CEGO feedback/stories on here. Carl was patient, courteous, even offered me a beer as he finished up with a customer.

His assistants were also very friendly and helpful. Carl def knows his stuff. I have a very, very unique shape and I have used some tailors unable to find that sweet spot. Carl dove right in, even offering me recommendations/improvements to some custom shirts I brought in that I was already  very happy with. If he delivers then CEGO could be my new go to spot. Fabrics still start ~$150 & go to $400+ but the workers were very helpful in avoiding such pricey fabrics till I can find the right fit.

Carl was constantly looking for my input, what I was looking for, and was happy to help fill in any gaps b/w what I knew I wanted and what goes into a shirt. I also saw the boxers made from fabric leavings he sells. Not a bad deal for $20 though Carl says the guy who makes them has not been replenishing his store so it was tough to find anything <32 inches. I ordered 1, blue workhorse shirt ($190) to start with so I expect to be able to post pics in a month or so.

Overall a great 1st impression.

Glad to hear people speak well of Carl. My distance from NYC and changed dimensions since my last fitting are the main things that have kept me from CEGO recently, though the 3 shirts I have from my 2010 fitting are still some of the prized shirts in my wardrobe. I've never found him to be anything but knowledgeable and a true professional.
