I have a pair of these to sell, the John Lobb Lopez loafer.

Is this 8 1/2 the US or UK size? If UK, what is the US equivalent?

These are the markings inside:

Take a ruler and measure the length of the shoe from heel to toe and then measure the width of the widest part of the shoe. This will give a much easier indication of the size.

Also, if they turn out to be 8 1/2 UK then they are virtually worthless and you should probably sell them to me for $20. biggrin.gif

Just ask where are the comming from and if the sellers are from Europe or not. This will give you the info whether it is US or UK.

Generally John Lobb shoes are exclusively measured in UK -- based on the markings, it looks to be 8 1/2 E UK to me. They usually run large, so that's generally 9 1/2D US. If you're unsure, I'd measure to be safe, like bourbonbasted suggests.

After I posted here, I thought to query the US office of Lobb.

They replied rapidly and helpfully.

Those shoes are a UK size 8 1/2 in an "E" width. Now that's in UK sizing. in UK sizing an "E" is a medium width and equivalent to a U.S. "D" width. The sizes are also 1 lower, so an 8 1/2 E UK is generally equal to an American size 9 1/2 D

From experience, these are the perfect size for a US 9.5D.

FYI, the shoes have finally made it to auction.
