any suggestions for champagne cocktails?

Now that my living/dining room in my apartment is furnished, I'm having some girls over for dinner next week and I'm not much of a mixologist ;p

In browsing through the great site that Hunstman just posted in another thread, I was reminded of the champagne cocktails I had at Bronte here in Montreal. I really can't remember what was in them, other than they tasted great and were topped with champagne at the table and served in a martini glass.

I'm not expecting to replicate them exactly, but someone must have some good recipes for them.

A champagne cocktail (at least the traditional drink called a "champagne cocktail") is just made out of sugar, a few dashes of bitters, and (duh) champagne. Very straightforward drink with simple and accessible ingredients.

Check Webtender and CocktailDB. There is the Bellini (peach and champagne) and Mimosa (orange juice and champagne). Be aware though that as champagne is already very low alcohol, champagne cocktails will have about as much alcohol as beer. This is a major turn-off for me.

Glad you enjoyed the site. I'll offer Kir Royale and it's companion Kir Imperial (not really sure that's the right name). Creme de Cassis and Champagne and Chambord and champagne, respectively. Both good. Another breakfasty one is the Pointsetta -- a mimosa with cranberry juice. God if the cran is sweet. I want to try champagne and pomergranite juice, though! Regards, Huntsman

perfect as apertif, though I typically use some sparkling wine rather than champagne, e.g., cava or pro seco

I've learnt to make something called the Royal: Half-and-half cognac and champagne, twist of lemon, chilled. One of the most dangerous cocktails known to mankind.

That sounds interesting. I don't drink a lot but I do like Cognac.

I was looking through webtender and there's a lot of them with flavored vodkas that look interesting.

And RJ, do you seriously mix champagne and guiness? That sounds horrid. I can drink guiness, but with champagne? Yuck.

If it's good enough for Christopher Lee as Pistols Scaramanga, it's good enough for me. Henchman sold separately.
