The thing about the Carreducker blog that makes it truly outstanding is that they are very generous. Their focus is on preserving and passing on the Trade, not just self-promotion.

Frankly, I think the blog is the best one devoted to shoemaking on the Internet if only because it is updated every week and James takes the time to explain things fully and carefully.

I've read all his posts going back for several years and while I may do a few things slightly different, I've never seen bad advice or misinformation given.

Wow! Praise indeed DW. It means a lot to read your comment. You have got us just right too. We love this trade and want to get other people into shoemaking. We firmly believe in sharing knowledge to preserve it.

And while the knowledge may be given away, I'm afraid that's the only thing we give for free - no such thing as a free shoe!

Best, jimmyshoe

Just had a read of this blog also, thankyou very much Jimmy, really nice to see someone who wants to preserve a dying art and not just promote themselves.

Absolutely, kev777, always listen to your granny - no harm in asking.

And another great big thank you to you for starting this thread. Our blog stats have gone through the roof this week, so you are helping spread the word.

Best wishes, jimmyshoe

By the way, for all of you who love shoes and read blogs, there is another one written by an aspiring shoemaker and all round shoe aficionado, called the Shoe Snob. It is very different to ours but still a great read - highly recommended.
