How much does suit size change?

I'm 18 and I think I'm pretty much done growing, except maybe I'll grow an inch or two (if I'm lucky) in the next few years of college.

I bought one suit pre-SF and it's not a suit I'm comfortable with wearing, and it seems to be a touch tight in the shoulders. Luckily it fits my dad so he wears it whenever he needs a suit.

My body type is like the definition of skinny fat because I am pretty damn skinny everywhere except for a flabby stomach. I don't plan on being like this forever and I have started lifting for a couple weeks now to try and put on some muscle. I have no aspirations to be a big body builder and I really don't plan on getting physically bigger.

My question is... In your experience, how much does suit size change?

Huh?

Like how many sizes are there? Can't you go to a department store?

I meant like when you guys buy a $1000+ suit you expect to wear it for many many years, and I'm sure your body type will change in those many many years... but have your bodies ever changed enough to deem a suit unwearable?

Well a suit size doesn't change, usually a jacket/pant can be taken in/let out an inch or two, but shoulders don't change.

It's great motivation to stay in shape!

It's contingent on how fat you become. If you pork up enough, obviously old suits don't fit....as wouldn't the rest of your wardrobe. At that point, there's Sears or Brooks Brothers luxury fit<---crackup[1].gif.
