Isaia suit pants

I recently bought 2 isaia suits, jackets are fine but i noticed that pants are so slim.. i mean the waist is fine and i am comfortable in the pants but legs are very slim compared to my other suits (Zegna, BBGF,PRL or even RLBL has hem width which is much larger.. I find RLBL pants the perfect balance, pants are slim and they are also in the classic side, no worry to wear them. The main problem with isaia is when someone wears a suit jacket, that add weight to the upper part so that a pant which is a little bit large legs (like RLBL) balances this, but in the isaia suit i feel myself like a carrot smile.gif . Should i resell the suit or do you think i can make the leg width much larger ? Is this a hard operation for a tailor ? Thanks for advices

usually there is no way to make the pant legs wider.
and did you notice that it makes your feet appear larger?
but then girls have a saying about men with big feet.

You can answer this question yourself by looking at the inside of the pants.

Is there extra fabric inside turned back at the seams?

If there is more than 1/2" or so on each side of the seam then the pant legs can be let out about 1/4' per seam which equals a total of 1" per leg which is substantial. It's a bit tricky for the tailor to push too close to the edge of available fabric so you may have to push him/her a bit to do it if there isn't much extra fabric

Unfortunately, my experience with Isaia is that they leave very little extra anything in the seams. Everything is tightly finished, edged and more or less nearly impossible to let out.

In the olden days quality off the rack suits often had larger seam allowances in order to accomodate such alterations. But alas that trend is no longer so common.

The pants on my Isaia MTM suits are too slim as well. They are fine on my Isaia OTR suits, but not on the MTM. I've decided that Isaia no longer satisfies me, and am in the process of replacing them.

I don't have any MTM Isaia but for a OTR i am like you, i recently bought 2-3 Isaia suits but don't like them too much. I have 3 RLBL and 2 Caruso (sartoria Parma) suits, I like them much more than isaia suits... for a slim yet classic look.
If altering the width is a tricky operation i don't think that i will bring it to a tailor because it would cost in Switzerland, like half of the price i paid for suit...

How on earth do you expect to make the legs wider? The hemming will be minimal and so there is simply no cloth present with which to work.

Okay, I'm curious: how wide are they at the hem? Less than 8 inches across?

Never had an issue with my OTR Isaia suit pants -- and I played collegiate soccer, meaning trouser width, particularly at the thighs, can be an issue for me. Perhaps the newer seasons are much more trim-fitting.

My Isaia trousers look to have about 3/8" seam allowances, you could probably reduce all 4 seams to 1/4" and gain about 1/2" circumference in total. That's a small difference, so might not be worth the bother, but it could be enough.
