im nervous about this. on the one hand it would be great to see future los angeles reimagined with modern technology but on the other hand, blade runner was such an excellent, its hard to imagine Ridley Scott producing something on the same level again., especially with commerical pressures if he does ramp up the CGI etc

Agreed.

As a huge fan who owns all the versions and the entire underground edition of Vangelis' score, I am nervously excited about this. Much of what made the movie great was the old school special effects, the music and sound, and Ford and Hauer's performances. Not to mention that Scott drove that whole crew with the whip to the point where they nearly mutinied.

After Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and those other three pieces of shit Lucas squeezed out of well kissed ass though, I just can't bear to have another childhood favorite fed to the dogs.

I mean, is Scott even up to this? Should he first cut his SciFi teeth on the now well-shat upon Alien series instead and try to resuscitate that or do you think he can still bring the goods?

What do you mean about Alien?

He has finished work on Prometheus - a prequel to Alien. That will be the litmus test i suppose.

This will be so bad that Sean Young will actually deserve a role.

Well I guess that shows how much I've been living under a rock this past year. I knew Scott was doing a movie called Prometheus, it just didn't connect with me that it was the pre-quel to Alien. Just watched the teaser on YouTube. Still too early to tell from what little footage was shown.

If it is good, I really hope he will do an Aliens 5 and get that series back on track. Hell, he could do the next AVP movie and it would still be 100 times better than that hack Andersen or those no-talent douches the Brothers Strause could do. One of my favorite Dark Horse comics as a kid completely ruined by Fox's continuously poor director choices for two great franchises. I mean how hard is it to set an AVP movie in the future world that Aliens was set in and have Aliens, Predators, and Marines duking it out on a strange planet? None of this Antarctica/Colorado bullshit.

Bah...anyway, I'll try and withhold judgment on the Blade Runner sequel until I see a teaser or trailer.

oh no. i can see it now. it's set off-world. we see attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion, and c-beams glittering in the dark near tanhauser gate. the replicants rebel and attack earth. the end.

i hope nothing comes of this.

Lol. You swoop in on post #8 and nail the worst case scenario right between the eyes

Legit question though. If Deckard is to be in this (either old or young Deckard), who do we think could pull off the role? I don't think Ford gave a wholly unique performance of Deckard to where you would look at the character and say, "only Ford could do that."

That said, I think it's widely agreed that LeBeouf couldn't do it.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
This also begs the question of how do we deal with Deckard's incep date and lifespan.

hmm i think gary oldman, daniel craig or clive owen would be good deckards if the movie was done.
