how is having a better deal now fucking people over
post #573 of 1157
um

well, you see, a large number of people placed orders prior to today's deal, at the behest of j. crew's urging, with the assumption that if they didn't take advantage of the prior offer, they would be "losing out", so to speak

on the contrary, j. crew intended to take advantage of these people by ushering in as many as possible, and then capitalizing on sales of individuals who wouldn't buy [1] at 25% off with a $150 minimum BUT [2] at 25% off with NO minimum.

therefore, j. crew's prior marketing was duplicitous in tone and was conveyed to customers in bad faith, ie, basically to "fuck them over"

let me know if you still don't get it

side note no, i wasn't one of those people who ordered before today (or even today, for that matter), but that doesn't mean i can't point out what was an obvious lapse in good faith customer relations

The corner had 30% off for black friday then had and ADDITIONAL 40% off today. I bought on both occasions and i dont feel screwed over...calm down mr sensitive.

A retailer isn't supposed to give you the same deals over and over. Cyber monday is supposed to be bigger than Black Friday online anyways and this code is good for ONLINE only. I usually go in store to kop so it wouldn't have made a difference for many people. At least J. Crew has a ton of stock so you can always wait in most cases.

For example Apple stopped free iPods this summer, I waited till summer to buy, they dropped it so I bought with an employee discount instead. Was it unfair on Apple's part? NO.

^ True, but thecorner didn't send out 2 or 3 emails urging people to hurry up or miss out

if you were led to believe the urgency of a jcrew 30% off sale, then you should check out this mattress surplus sale going on that ends tonight. we bought too many and don't have enough room in our warehouse!

True

Something else - the sort of mindset that drives a guy to shop at J Crew will probably lead him to discover the "real" brands that J Crew apes from as its way of business (eg, CDW, Alden, Gitman, Wings + Horns) and start looking into those instead. J Crew is like an intermediary between shitty mall clothing and greener pastures

That said, at 50% off, lots of J Crew pieces are still good buys IMO, especially their basics (eg, socks, sweaters, t-shirts)

30% off sweaters now, but I just looked and the two that I ordered yesterday that were "on sale" for $10 off plus the 25% I got are now both full price.

Oh, and what's everyone's thoughts on these pants? I bought them, can't get over the color, really unique shade of brown and I dig it.
