FYI price difference is about $60.

Gifford = Made in Italy

Leather = Import (I think India?)

Your paying for the "Made in Italy" designation, more or less. Both are not worth retail for their quality, imo..

Fine print on my 20 percent off coupon that expired last week:

Offer is valid for one-time use only and cannot be applied to previous purchases, alterations, the purchase of gift cards, or purchases made from J. Crew Factory Stores. This promotion cannot be combined with any other offers. Offer valid only in retail stores on items in stock. Not applicable toward sale merchandise, bridal gowns, third-party branded merchandise, or vintage and one-of-a-kind items.

It says that, but the 20% code often does work on 3rd party items.

I was warned but did not listen. Stay away from these shoes. Quality is severly lacking. I bough the Gifford WT's and after 5 wears the sole started separating from the welt. Garbage. Brought them back. For ~$200 you can score Allen Edmonds when on sale.

Save your $ !

anyone know if jcrew cords fit TTS in the waist? I find that with a lot of their other pants I have to size down 1.

J Crew is now duty free for Canadians. Not sure exactly how, considering most of their stuff is made in China, but whatever.

They sent an email about it this morning and even credited me back the duty on my order from the 18th. Pretty nice.

Just got that too, and a $25 gift e-card.

Haha, I just checked prices on the new Canadian site vs the US one. Prices are 10-20% higher on the Canadian site...AND they were going to charge duties on top of that, plus tax etc. So it's really nothing new, its still expensive ordering that stuff to Canada, they just tried to hide it.

I miss living near the US border.

Looking through the fall catalog, I dig the merlot vintage cords. I've got a pair of jeans in the urban slim fit and a pair in the 484 fit, how does the vintage slim compare to those? Also some of their boots look pretty sweet, especially the Chippewa's and the Iron Ranger. Are those worth the money? Cheaper elsewhere than JCrew?

Iron Rangers go for about $200 on Ebay.

Do you think those are better than the Chippewa's that are 200 new? They probably won't have to handle much more than some rain or snow, so any difference between durable and extra durable wouldn't mean a whole lot.
