I fly about 6 times a month and have not seen anyone using those bags get harassed, TSA people just say "take out the laptops" out of habit.

Which airports do you fly? When I tried with my friends TSA bag I went through the machine and then they asked for the laptop to be taken out. Seen it happen with multiple TSA allowed bags.

Almost exclusively: PHL, ATL, SJU, MEX, CLT some JFK, some ORD, some TLC.

same here, had one of the book-opening style bags and still got asked to take it out of the bag, or they took my laptop out for me. ffffuuuu.gif

Must be a lot of people either not using the bag properly or just bad luck.

Like 15dollarman, I'm in and out of airports frequently and I haven't been bothered about my bag in months. If the laptop has nothing underneath or on top, and is laying flat on the conveyor, then it's within the guidelines. That being said, I have seen people with similar bags who place the bag on the conveyor improperly, and the 'bag' part ends up getting pushed over on to the laptop by the curtain.

I fly out of DFW exclusively, but I'm all over the place aside from that. I've been in at least 20 different airports this year with no incident.

Saddleback leather duffel? Kind of expensive though -- and smaller than they look online.

Is it really that hard taking out a laptop and putting it in a bin?

I mean after I take off my shoes and belt, empty my pockets, take out my toiletries and lift my arms for a full body scan, pulling out my laptop is pretty much a cinch.

I'd look at Ernest Alexander or Archival Clothing
