Need ideas on Disposable Nubuck/Suede Chukka idea, rubber or crepe sole

Hi All,

So I am moving back to Asia from UK, at the moment got some time to explore Europe. I plan to wear one shoe (shipped everything else back to Asia already) that can work pretty much all occasion (so sneakers are out), nothing super formal but just doesn't look out the place. The only thing I can think of is a Nubuck/Suede chukka on either rubber sole or crepe sole. I will be walking on them for like 2.5 weeks non stop, just plan to throw them out afterwards (or keep using them until I have to throw them out)

Anyone got a suggestion for something like this? Comfort is number one priority as I will be walking 15~20 miles a day, possibly more (I prefer walking over public transportation, I know I am weird..., I walk all over Paris/London/Rome/NYC that way).

The only thing I can think of is some of the cheap big chain retailer in London that still has summer left over on sale, anyone got any specific brand to recommend? I am looking at <70 GBP, preferably less.

I have done that on my CJ for BB shell boots (rubber sole), no issue. Also have done it on another rubber sole CJ suede chukka (Tetbury), though that was probably only 10 miles. Have done it once on my unlined chukka (the ex-sutor mantellassi guy, leather sole), probably have to resole it soon, the toe part is dangerously thin now... satisfied.gif

And I am probably exaggerating 15~20 miles, some day it would be more like 5~10 while other day will be more like 15~20 with majority around 10 if you ask me to guess. Cheap crepe sole would probably suffice, pretty sure it would be gone by the time I am done with this trip.

they got something similar to the first 1, and have the other ones online. The problem with the first one is it doesn't really fit me otherwise would have bought it, oh well

This is true, and we've only been running since the invention of the modern running shoe, which occurred in the mid 1970's. If you're going the cheap route, definitely check out the Clarks Desert Boot. You could always get a boat shoe or moccasin. I really enjoy walking in Quoddy's or will wear Sperry's if the weather is super shitty.

hum, boat shoe probably moccasin usually doesn't work for me since my left and right foot are about half size apart. Will check and report back tomorrow...

I second the boat shoe or moccasin. I wear my boat shoes just about everywhere (that doesn't require something more formal) throughout the spring, summer, and early fall and they are much more comfortable after long days than my chukkas are. Whatever you go with, I'd suggest against a crepe sole but the only real reason I would do so is because I always seem to get tiny little pebbles and stones stuck to the bottom of mine which make annoying noises if I'm walking around for a long period.

FWIW, I recently went to Seattle and walked about 10 or 15 miles most days in my boat shoes with no problems. Of course, mine are about 5 years old and very well broken in so that might make a difference too. YMMV...
