OK, I'm going to come out and say it. I'm a huge L&O fan. I know these shows get a lot of flak for being too old, too formulaic, too predictable too unrealistic, blah blah; but damn, there's nothing else better on TV these days. Maybe it's just because I don't watch a lot of TV anymore, but I can't stand similar crime/legal shows like Cold Case, The Practice, Boston Legal, and the king of the shite heap - CSI. The casting is superb (bonus points for the usually hot ADAs

), the storylines and plots usually keep me on edge for the entire episode. If I have any beefs with the show, it's usually guest stars, who in most cases end up being the perp... boo for predictability. L&O and SVU are the most watchable, but I'll watch CI if there's usually nothing else on. So any other L&O fans here? Kind of curious with the high lawyer population here.

I like the original, and the CI is entertaining enough, but I don't care for the SVU at all. Mariska Hargitay is looking quite fetching lately, though.

Is that the one who's Jayne Mansfield's daughter?

Yepper. I never used to think she was that attractive, but lately... I dunno what it is, exactly. She does seem to have gotten highlights, and I'm constantly amazed at how much that can alter a woman's look. But there's something else. Maybe it's just because I only used to see her as the dour character on the show, but lately I've been seeing more of her out of character -- on promo spots, at awards shows, etc..

I wouldn't put Law & Order in the class of HBO's shows. Or FX, for that matter. To me, it is the television equivalent of comfort food -- something you can watch and enjoy at an odd hour when nothing else worth watching is on.

Yeah, she's ok... but I still say the ADAs are hotter. Casey's not bad, but Alex Cabot is the bees knees.

My dislike for CI is how Goren tries to mindfuck everybody. He comes off like a nut most of the time - the kind that you see on the street rambling to themselves, throwing their arms in the air. Goren will go on about some unrelated crap and then BAM, he somehow gets a confession out of the guy. Logan's OK, but everytime I see him I just think of Big from SATC. As for the original L&O, I love Fontana and Green. If I was ever murdered, I'd want them on the case.

Well, my favorite was the original then *********** with it and took out the older male detective ad put it on Friday night (I work until 11). But, they still have the best character EADA John James McCoy. So, now my favorite would have to be Criminal Intent. I love it for reasons Band hates it.
Fontana was good especially the clothing. But, my favorite was the Logan/Briscoe years, they had the best cast.

Jack McCoy so f---ing RULES! Ditto Jerry Orbach's Briscoe (RIP). I used to love that sweet blonde ADA who inexplicably announced her lesbianism in her final episode.

Best (better) EADA: Jack McCoy
Best DA: Adam Schiff
Best ADA: Abbie
Hottest ADA: Serena
Best Detective Team: tossup between Briscoe/Logan and Briscoe/Green

I love that Logan's on CI now -- you take one look at him as that character and you can't even remember the 'Big' mistake.

I love McCoy... great acting by Waterston, and always comes up with great one liners at the most appropriate times.

Maybe it's because my gf watches SATC ALL THE FREAKING TIME that I only think of Logan as Big. And there's no denying how great Briscoe was.

I don't have Showtime or HBO, or whatever SATC was on, so I never watched it until it came onto TBS. It was a guilty pleasure of mine for about 3 weeks (I don't know that I've ever admitted that to another living soul), but then I got over it. That Sarah Jessica Parker is not the world's cutest woman, but... what a WICKED little frame on that dame, no?

L&O is my favorite show on cable, has been for the last couple of years (Nip/Tuck was a close second and they completely dropped the ball (WTF?)). They hardly ever deviate from the formula but the characters are so well crafted you dont notice till its over. For me its L&O>SVU>CI>TBJ. Its the only reason I watch TNT - the cops and lawyers on the moving pictures box.

From certain angles Sarah J. Parker makes me think of the Wicked Witch of the West. She has a great frame but her face is less than pleb.
