Hi. Kevin here. I joined this thread when I read about Walnut shoes with black pants.
I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, in Sonoma County which is 50 miles north. I'm a bit of a clothes horse. The more formal stuff consists primarily of Hugo Boss, and a couple pieces from Armani. Shoes include Allen Edmonds, Armani, and an esoteric shoe called "Skywalker," which I acquired many years ago. As far as everyday wear, I'm afraid I'm a Diesel wh0re, a few assorted colors of Ralph Lauren Polos, and some fun t-shirts. Everyday shoes are Caterpillars which I wear to death. Assorted black boots. A couple pairs of Campers and Vans for knocking about at home.
Anyway, its an ongoing process of learning and doing what is correct. However, I do like breaking rules without looking downright silly. Think police officer come private investigator Elway on Season 8 of Dexter. Broke several rules but with his attitude, confidence, and persona carried off his look. Downright uber cool.
I'll be enjoying the posts!
My name is Jeffery and I am a 33yr old data analyst who is in a unique transition period. Before I dated my now wife, I dressed horrendously! Since dating her and now married to her, I have slowly been changing my wardrobe to a look of a gentleman.
By viewing YouTube videos and collecting ideas from the Internet, I have found great ideas but a lot of trash as well. I was recommended this forum from a fellow university colleague and hope to learn how to elevate my style with class and quality.
I appreciate everyone and look forward to interacting with y'all.
P.S. Yes I said y'all.
I've been covering men's style and men's issues for CBC Radio for several years and joining SF has been on my to-do list for a very long time. Embarrassed it took me so long to get to it. Anyway, I'm very passionate about helping guys dress better, but am well aware that I still have a lot to learn myself.
I guess I'd describe my own approach as "classic", I'm found of wearing suits or at least sport jackets, almost always with a tie or bow tie. And I never leave the house without a hat. I love dress hats and own a couple of Leon Drexlers.
I'm also involved in the tailoring world, to a certain degree (I can't sew a buttonhole, or anything). I've spent about 2 years - in my free time - helping Walter Beauchamp with their social media and digging into their archives and history. Wanting to keep the tailoring world alive in Toronto is becoming a bit of a passion project for me.
I am really looking forward to leaning more, meeting like-minded folks and spreading the word about dressing well.
