Sean here. Current college student, so I'm kinda short on cash. Probably not the best site to be on. Anyway, I'm looking mainly to gain better knowledge of style and to make good impressions via clothing.

Hey everybody. Long time lurker, but new poster!
Name's Mark, and I'm currently working in tech, but have a huge passion for men's style. Always trying to find clothes that suit me, and love sharing knowledge. For that reason, I just created a new men's style blog to try and help people get back to the basics.

Called simplerman.com and would love feedback or questions or comments if you have any!

Cheers, and hope to keep up conversation with you all in a variety of threads!

Hello all

I live in Melbourne (Australia) - an industrial designer and an art teacher.  Over 50… I’m also an ex athlete – and never to retire – can’t afford to!  Too keen on designing, with an expensive 16yo daughter (fashion nazi - sigh) + Italian motorcycles etc etc

I need classy casual gear I can wear in my studio/gallery - particularly to impress clients! (and my daughter – who says I dress like a hobo!)

I’m also into in fine shirts and their accoutrements - cufflinks and studs - since I’m working in this area; ie a partnership developing and making classic hand cast cufflinks in silver and gold.    We already produce some designs.  I’m keen to get feedback from members on the kinds of cufflinks they would like - given our theme – classic/timeless silver and gold cufflinks; expensive-ish, but not unreasonably so.

So, any suggestions any members can give would be MOST appreciated!

Cheers

Davo

Hi!

I'm a long time lurker who decided to actively join.

I love interesting fashion that makes people look like individuals.

Looking forward to sharing news and opinions on the forums.

(P.S. I just hope I don't slip into lurking mode again lol!)

Hi all,

My name is Karl and I've been using the pseudonym "Soitgoes" for some time now, mostly because I don't have to put numbers or other nonsense in my nickname and also because I was reading Vonnegut at the time...

In a nutshell, I'm a person who quite enjoys learning anything about everything. I enjoy music, physics, aerospace engineering, among other things of course.

Hi SF,

Chris here, I lurk a lot but it's time I start an account. I am in the process of upgrading my wardrobe since I left college and recently lost a significant amount of weight. In the last few months I have gained a great appreciation for quality shoes, and have purchased a couple pairs of Allen Edmonds and am looking to grow my small collection.

When I'm on the clock I am an engineer. In my free time I like to hunt, fish, target shoot and work on my cars. I also know a fair amount about salt water aquariums and raising coral.

I look forward to learning more and having a wardrobe I will be proud of.

Hey, my name's Greg, and as per the very friendly welcome message I just received I'm doing a little intro post here.

I'm in my late 20s, attending law school in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Over the last few years I've begun to take much greater control over my wardrobe - prior to that I had a lot of suits from Moore's (Canada's version of Men's Wearhouse) that fitted me just awfully. I've since become acquainted with some lower-end MTM stuff like Indochino which, although it has its shortcomings, has totally changed my outlook on clothing - I actually enjoy wearing a suit and tie now, because I can do so comfortably. Custom shirts in particular were a revelation, since due to my body type OTR stuff either fit me like a parachute or choked me half to death. I've also taken a closer interest in what I'm wearing casually, although that was more an issue of being a bit more patient and actually finding OTR brands that fit and sticking with them.

I'm currently looking at taking a step up to MTM suits from higher-end shops like Samuelsohn or (more likely, due to price) Coppley. I've lurked around these forums for a while, but I figured I should take the plunge and start actively seeking advice.

Cheers,

Greg

Hello everyone!

My name is Thomas. I'm in my mid-twenties and I live in London, UK. I work as a Craftman for the shoemaker Corthay.

I will post some of my creation from time to time (I am a patina artist) and original models made by our Made to Measure workshop.

My wardrobe is as quiet as my shoes are flashy. Black/grey or light colour shirts, rather narrow fitting jeans, and very colourful socks!!

Grey or black 3pieces suit when needed.

Have a lovely day!!

Thomas

Hi,

I am a information security consultant in my early 30s living in Alberta, Canada.

I didn't really have a professional wardrobe before my current position with a professional service firm.

From the posts I gained a lot of knowledge on what to look for in building and maintaining a professional wardrobe.

Prior to SF, I've never been to a tailor for anything other than hemming pants (even that's rare), or done any shoe maintenance. It has since changed.

Thank you all for sharing.

Warm Regards,

Arthur

I'm a 21 year medical student. I've become overly disappointed in the quality and fit of my clothing. I'm a student on a budget and I can't afford to be completely replacing my wardrobe every year due to wear. I want clothes that last. Experience has shown me that investing in costlier clothing that is better made saves money in the long run. The clothing I've purchased at cost at independent shops has lasted me much longer than any of the items I've gotten at any fashion outlet chain. With graduation approaching slowly, I realize that my outfit is going to be more professional. I've been researching custom made clothing, suits, bespoke and better methods of preserving clothing. My search has lead me here. I won't be able to afford bespoke anytime soon, but I'm interested in MTM and I'm hoping to get a suit or two from a place like Suitsupply or Indochino sometime in the next year. Before I make any investments though, I'd like to be well informed on what to look for in a suit. Any advice is welcome! biggrin.gif

Hello everyone!

I'm Dustin, known on the StyleForum as 'The Polished Hipster'.

I hope to find help and discussion on used selvedge denim to buy, sell or trade as well. I'm always on the lookout for well-worn used selvedge denim with a ton of character. My favorite denim makes are Baldwin, Nudie and Naked & Famous

I'm also in love with boots & chukkas. I love my Red Wings and Alden's.

So if you can interest me in a sale or offer, I'm always interested! Thanks for welcoming me to StyleForum!
