Any One for a Scotch? - Page 214

Yes. The DE I had was sherry finished but the sherry isn't overwhelming (is it sherried every year?). Pairs very nicely with that honeyish character

JW 18 is prolly one of my favorite whiskeys ever (and a good value still if you can find some) so I am kind of biased.

First, thanks to all who have contributed to this thread. I've learned a ton reading up on it.

A friend and I acquired a few 'starter' bottles, based off of advice from this thread, and are going to do a tasting soon. Wondering what you all think of the best order?

My current thoughts are:

  1. Macallan 12
  2. Cragganmore 12
  3. Talisker 10
  4. Lagavulin 16

We may try to grab a Highland 12 to add in as well, perhaps right before or after the Talisker.

Thoughts?

Cheers.

The Cragganmore is quite light, you might want to make it first, the MAC might overpower. Otherwise, it's a fine order (including the possible HP).

∆ Good to know. Thanks!

I would switch #1 with #2 but looks good otherwise.

some good solid into scotches there. HP12's a good one too so worth adding in IMO.

+1 to switching the first two

you should taste them blind to see what you prefer without the labeling

Nice choices! I think the order is pretty good, i might make talisker last since you're moving away from sherried finishes by that point.
