recently drank a little bottle I've had for a while of Auchentoshen 3 wood. Really good stuff! Now to find a bottle...

Nice!  I just picked up the Auchentoshan Three Wood today 'cause I wanted some Lowland in my collection.  I was also tempted by the Mac 17 as: I think it's super tasty; it probably won't be around much longer; and it's a good value when compared to the 18.  I decided I'd hold off, though, and eventually get a bottle of the 18 vintage 1995.

Could not resist a sip, it was indeed a sherry explosion. How much water do people normally add to this? I don't usually add much, but i have never picked up a cask strength bottling.

Also took the next step in my HP education:

Some good times to be had this weekend nod[1].gif

I was unaware this had been discontinued. I'm going to have to go grab a bottle from a place I knew has some. Or perhaps I'll steal my bottle back from my dad who took it as his "birthday present" one year.

I'm not a big fan of highlands but I found the Mac Cask Strength to be wonderful. I don't usually add water, but I do almost exclusively drink scotch with a large ice cube.

Well that looks interesting.  I'm enjoying one of its Islay brethren tonight:

And I picked up these two today (I know, one doesn't really fit here):

How's the midwinter nights dram?

Haven't tried the bottle yet. Had some at a tasting a month or so back, however. I was kind of undecided then -- the port finish definitely came through, but I think I remember it as a bit harsh otherwise. That said, those memories are from the end of a long night.

Ok, had some last night and I thought it was really nice. Not harsh like I remembered, but very sweet and port-like up front, with a more normal finish. It actually reminded me of a Manhattan.

Those are long gone now. I snagged that bottle maybe 5 or 6 years ago. I think it was around 40 GBP, but people were reselling them for a lot more than that since it was a limited run.

So any of the NYers in this threak that are around on March 22nd, I am holding a trunk show between 35th and 36th St (519 8th Avenue, 8th floor). I'll have some refreshments including what is pertinent to the thread, the scotches below. Come by and have a taste if you like.
