Whenever we can get 7 to commit. We're away from the middle of July to the beginning of August, but aside from that I'm down any time. Maybe if we try and set a date in the Fall we can get a good turnout?

Fall would be great -- I might even be able to make it then (especially if after the bar results come out in October). Plus, Fall is perfect whisky weather.

Fall sounds good, I'm in. If this is not strictly the boys, then my fiancée (who will be my wife at the time) would like to join as well.

If I do this without my wife, I will be divorced.

Lol, sounds like s/o's are in. One of my cohorts brought over a highland park einar, which from what I gather is a 15yr. It was pretty good.

Stu is from my area, and he likes scotch, so I'll ask him if he wants in.

OK, sounds like we have some decent interest. If anyone is inetrested, we can make a night out of it, there are some great restaurants around here...I'll get a thread started at some point this week, and anyone interested can shoot me full names and phone numbers and I'll fwd it over to Longs on my way home from work one day once its all settled.

I was planning a trip to the city to see the Corbusier exhibit at the MOMA, perhaps I'll align it with this event. Sounds like a good time.

Never trust a Fifer! Diageo have their big bottling plant in Levan, Fife which is not a very nice place. I do like my single malts, particularly Dalwhinie 15yo (I drive past the distillery about once a month on my way up to my holiday place in the Highlands) but I am very cynical about the romanticism of Scotch . Its a big business life style industry, where most of the cost is marketing. A couple of friends of mine used to work for Grants, they would get a bottle of Whiskey once a quarter and the staff shop had a 50% discount on most things. Unfortunately both have now left.

I'm interested. I'm only a hop, skip and an R Train away in Park Slope. Could probably also rope one other bloke in.

Rare, $26,000 bottle of scotch stolen from Toronto shop
Quote:

Toronto police are looking for an alleged thief with a taste for the finer, and more expensive, things in life.

According to police, a man went into a downtown Toronto LCBO store earlier this month and pulled a rare 50-year-old Glenfiddich Single Malt scotch out of a glass case in the vintage section.

The 700-millilitre bottle worth $26,000 is extremely rare, with only 15 bottles available in Ontario, and 50 worldwide, every year.

Police said the man also selected a bottle of wine, which he took to the counter and paid for, but left the store without settling up for the scotch.

A still image captured by a security camera shows the suspect leaving the store, wine bottle gripped in his left hand, with a trench coat oddly draped across the right side of his body.

Police describe the man as white, 35 to 45 years old, 5'10", clean-shaven with black-framed glasses. He was last seen leaving the store wearing a Burberry plaid shirt, brown hat, brown trench coat, and black jeans.

^^^nice.

What do you guys do with bottles you have that you're just not crazy about? My collection is filling up rapidly, and over the course of learning what I like and what I don't I've got a few opened bottles with one or two drams poured that I am almost certain I won't be drinking any more of. Just keep them out for guests? Wish there was a way to swap them with others who are in the same predicament.
