Help me with the blazer + jeans look ( fit pic / questions )

Hi all,

Now that I am getting older, I've decided I really want to start dressing up a little more when I go out.

Here's my first attempt at the jeans + blazer look. Please help me tweak this to get it right.

A few questions:

1. Suggestions for inexpensive shirts that have really nice stiff collars? Most of the buttondowns in my collection tend to have pretty soft collars or are the button-down style which I don't really like.

2. Suggestions for shoes? I'm wearing some DB's here because I don't really have much else.

3. Do the jeans look too baggy? Trying to find the right balance of slim but not skinny.

Notes on the fit:

I'm 5'9, 150lbs.
Blazer = H&M 38 (runs quite short for a 38, probably closer to a 38S )
Shirt = H&M medium ( I normally wear a small, but this one is kind of fitted. I hate the collar )
Jeans on left pic = Lucky Slim 221
Jeans on right pic = Levi 501 (not STF though)
Shoes = Clark DB Taupe

Sorry that it's kind of dark, the flash didn't work well with the mirror. I'll retake pics during daylight.

Jeans are still too baggy for the levis, but the lucky slims are better. I'd try to find a bit slimmer than the lucky slims.

I'd lose the desert boots and go for a pair of dress shoes (dbs seem too casual and is clashing with the blazer & shirt tucked in).

I'd get a different belt too, a dressier one, but that's just me.

Thanks, I had the same initial feel about the bagginess of the jeans.

Suggestions on a belt that straddles the line between casual (jeans) but dressy (blazer) ?

I think you should go with a dressy belt - matching with your shoes of course.

But you could also lose the blazer, go with a ocbd tucked in with a casual belt and keep the dbs.
