It's about having some taste and class. But back to OP's question: you say you need to buy a tie. It sounds like you have some specific occasion, not a regularly recurring event. So let us know what this occasion is and what else you'll be wearing and we will try to give you some suggestions.

I wanted to buy a red tie but I'm having a hard time picking one. The like the one below but it has Emporio Armani all over it, cause of that I'm not sure if I should buy it. I wanted to get a second opinion on that. What do you guys think? Is it worth buying that tie or should I get another one?

Thanks alot.

Tie Red

Ghastly.

That tie is terrible. At first blush I thought it might be a fake. I do have a couple things from EA that are quite good--a nice wool/silk tie that is a nice textured dark grey and suit from their "napoli" line. Both of them made in Italy. I bet the EA line (much like the Polo Ralph Lauren line) makes a bunch of crap with some solid pieces mixed in.

That is quite possily the uglyiest brand name tie I have seen this side of Stefano Ricci.

We can all agree that tie is a disgrace, but how about helping the fella out with what he really came here looking for. He obviously needs to buy a tie, so help him with that.

What do you need to buy the tie for?
What are you wearing it with?
How often are you going to be wearing it?
How much do you want to spend?

How about visiting one of the forum sponsors and perusing their wares? There's something in every style and price range at your fingertips.

I wanted to buy a red tie, I'm going to be wearing a black suit and a white shirt. I'm going to be wearing it occasionally at formal events. I'm willing to spend up to $200 on the tie.

Any help would be really appreciated, its my first time buying formal ware. I'm really confused puzzled.gif. Even the smallest tips might be new to me.

I'll take a look at the forum sponsors and see which styles I like.

Formal events such as dinners and charity events, like that? Do you already have this suit?

Formal events like business events and Yeah, already got the suit. Until now, I had a cheap tie I bought in a hurry. Its annoying how it folds up. I thought I would put the money and buy one really good tie.

The suit I have is something like this suit. Not too fancy.

I'd recommend my line of neckwear but we're all sold out until the fall collection arrives this september. Our stock goes pretty quickly.

So more like business meetings and the like? Just a warning, you're going to get ragged on here for the black suit, nobody will much of a fan, especially for business. Anyway, how about the second one in davesmith's post?

I think I like the third one in DavidSmith's post better, I'll contact him about purchasing that one. Maybe a few more smile.gif
