Western Style Belts....

I decided I wanted a western-styled belt, the type I used to see more of when I was a kid in the '50s or '60s. After searching all over the department stores and usual clothing stores I frequent, I found the only places around Greater Cleveland with this sort of belt is the riding stores, which feature Western and English attire.

Schneider's Saddlery had quite a few Western belts, combining men's and women's - ranging from some fairly standard leather belts to the most glitzy, heavy types. My favorite and one which I thought would fit through all my belt loops is of attractive tooled brown leather with an ornate silver-plated buckle:

Problem is, when I looked the belt up on the web, as I always seem to do when I purchase brand clothing, the Ariat company refers to it only as "ladies." What do you guys think? I know that Western men's accessories do not necessarily avoid flowers or other plants. Depends on the way it's done. With the "rivets" and all, it never occured to me this belt might not be considered masculine attire or at least unisex. The salespeople sure didn't say anything (I don't think they'd have a clue how the company or Schneider's online store labeled it....),. And the belt did come in a 38. So what do you think?

Unless your profession involves riding the fences or gunning down outlaws, I'd seriously recommend you reconsider this idea..

Ha ha. I don't go in for silly Western. I do like Western wallets though currently have a high-quality Coach. This belt was below average in flamboyance in the store's offerings.

Now back business: too feminine? I called store and salesperson said she thinks leather unisex, buckle slightly feminine and could easily be replaced. I'm hoping to go to County Fair this weekend; silver buckles are a type of thing I could see being sold there. But again - what do you think?
