Wrinkles in tie

One of my ties slipped off the rack in my closet and spent several weeks on the floor. It is now very wrinkled. I took it to the dry cleaner thinking that a cleaning would take the wrinkles out. It is still wrinkled.
What is the best way to get wrinkles out of a tie? It is 100% silk.

Steaming?

Cleaners are usually pretty bad with ties - they either iron the life out of them or don't iron the tie at all out of fear of ironing the life out of it.

In my experience once a tie is very wrinkled it's simply dead - because I've never got them back to like new condition.

But I'm anxiously awaiting the advice from others and their magic secrets!

I found using the steam from a good iron at close range (almost touching) and then slightly tugging the tie at both ends usually does the trick.

What kind of tie is it? I found that even though this method works great on higher quality ties, it can sometimes put a strain on low end ties and make them look like bacon.

Use a steamer, or use the trick of hanging it up in the bathroom while you take a hot shower. Hopefully your cleaners didn't put starch in it.

If you have a fabric steamer that would work best, I am in love with mine and use it all the time.

I generally iron my clothes, then leave iron off for a while, then bring it back to press the tie, still warm but not as hot as before. then again I've only had to do it 2 times.

For those of you who aren't metro enough to own a clothes steamer (gasp!), I find that holding it over a boiling kettle that is jammed on removes them with ease.

Sorry for not posting an update earlier. I tried some of the suggestions which helped the tie look better. I did wear it to dinner with some friends. However, I don't think it is time to retire this tie. Oh well, gives me an excuse to get some new ties. Think I maybe heading to Brooks Brothers this afternoon.

I had the same thing happen, I steamed the tie and it looks great, no wrinkles. A steamer is a great thing to have
