Why don't you guys make an 18MM watch strap?

Simply because we haven't found source for 18mm buckles. The strap isn't a problem at all, we can make any width you like, we just need the hardware to go with it. I'm sure as time goes by we'll either find or make smaller buckles but in the meantime we could certainly make a strap for you if you had an existing buckle you wanted us to use?

Have you thought about making wallets?

I have to a certain degree and at some point if we can come up with a really nice pattern we might. I've wanted a Farmers Wallet from SAB for a while and they seem to have stopped making them so that may be the straw that breaks the camels back. Given everything we do is hand stitched entirely they'd end up being pretty expensive so we'd have to feel comfortable we were going to make something as good as people expected from us. Watch this space, SF will be the first to know if and when we get further than thinking about it..

Hi Charlie
Any news on this? ^
Thanks

Hi Alex,

Sorry, no. I've been concentrating on sourcing the best of the Bakers leathers and developing our range of stuff with them recently so the metalwork development has been a bit neglected. I can say though that Tiffanies make a nice buckle in that style, I have one here thats very nice quality - a lot better than some of the others I have seen. Might be worth a though??

Hope this helps

Hi All,

Just a note for those who have been after an 1 1/4" Stainless Steel West End - we've finally got the buckles back in stock after very long wait. My apologies to those who have had to wait patiently for too long!

Their main page is here but its a buckle we also use with the Lined and Raised and the Bakers belts

Hi All,

Thought I'd post a photo of a recent commission. Its a more bold colour scheme than we tend to do and was rather fun as a result. This is the Mediumweight Lined and Raised in Black with a Red lining and red stitching at 10 stitches per inch. I was pleased with the end result, a nice contrast but quite subtle when being worn.

Hi All,

More photos! This is a new leather freshly delivered from Bakers, we're calling its colour Oak Brown. The leather is oak bark tanned and full grain, very variegated, even more so than the Australian Nut as its hand stained and is very lovely. I meant to make up a belt for photography this afternoon but over enthusiasm with a round knife resulted in a trip to Casualty so just a photo of the leather itself for now and more photos of a finished belt in a day or two once I'm back to 10 functioning fingers!

The page for the belt is here and will have more photos shortly and this is a photo of the leather in the butt.

Couple more photos of the Oak Brown as promised, focusing on the nature and character of the leather itself as thats the point of our Bakers belts really..

Oak bark variegation and hand colouring..

Nice, tight full grain finish..

We love the belts, but we'd rather you keep the fingers, Charlie!

Remind me, what's the difference between this one and the Scott belt? Different treatment of the Baker's leather?

Thank you, I think I'll stop trying to amputate them for now, it turns out its quite painful!

As you say the difference is mostly in the way the leather is treated at Bakers, though the Scott is also a heavier leather. The Scott is Harness leather - 5mm thick, hot stuffed with grease and designed to be very strong and to last under adverse conditions, though in appearance its very like the bridle leather. The Oak Brown is in 4mm bridle leather, our standard weight, a little less grease used in the making, more flexible due to the lighter weight, hand coloured and much more variegated with a more obvious grain pattern.

Hope that helps!

I wonder if your Italian leather belts have a disadvantage or disadvantages in contrast to your original flagship belts?

PS: Naive and native are indeed etymologically connected, but the former is opposite critical, whereas the latter opposite foreign.

Please forgive me if I ask a question which probably has been answered, but I'm rather thick mentally:

Is your flagship belt in the colour Hazel also offered in contrasting thread colours?

I have a few questions about buying a casual belt. I usually don't wear a belt, but I've recently started too and quickly realized that my 1 1/2" belt was a bit wide. I'm short (5'4") so my dress belts at 1 1/8" look much better on me. However, I'm thinking I'll get one of the beautiful West End Bridle Leather Belt or the Kensington Bridle Leather Belt to wear casually and had some questions.

1. For casual wear (jeans, chinos, cords, etc) which of those two belts is more appropriate?

2. Also, if I went with the West End Bridle Leather Belt would 1 1/8" still be appropriate for casual wear? I think the 1 1/8" dress belt I have looks good with jeans, but I'm not sure if that's too narrow and others will think it look off. But ultimately, because I'm short, it has me leaning towards the narrower belt.

2. I measured the belt that fits best and it's 31.75" but your sizes are only in whole inches. Are you guys able to do it down to the quarter inch? Also, what would be the smallest gap you could make your holes without weakening the leather? Because I very, very rarely would jump an entire inch, which is what most belts have between the holes... I'd think a half inch surrounding the main hole would have more benefit. Can this be done? Something like 30.25" 30.75" and 31.25" for the three middle holes would be really nice to have, if possible of course.

3. Would the dark havana go with the following:

ba2.jpg

or

k_favorite_shoes_422x280.jpg

Both are on the dark brown side. I'm hoping dark havana would work, but let me know if there is another color that might be better suited.

4. Buckle color. If I wear to match with the boots (as well as with the brown color itself I suppose), I'd likely go with the brushed (satin finish?) nickle or brass. However, I usually go with silver-colored jewlery (i.e. watch, ring) so it might be more appropriate to go with stainless steel? That gives off a more formal look... and the belt won't be worn formally. I'm not sure what to do!

Anyway, any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks! And awesome belts. I can't wait to get one... and then probably another few after that I bet, lol.
