That is helpful. I'm not seeking an exact match, but I definitely have a gap that I want to fill.
Upon rereading, the following is only helpful if you're familiar with Edward Green leathers, and probably useless if not, but here it goes:
A failure would be to receive a belt that is materially darker than I expect, which would overlap with my other dark brown bridle leather belt (from Coach), which is very dark brown (darker than Edward Green's "Dark Oak Antique"). I need something lighter that will match well with medium browns such as EG's Edwardian, without being as light as Maple or Tan, or as orange as Chestnut.
As long as other batches of Oak Brown tend not to be significantly darker, that is the color I'm looking for. And notably, I tend to like the variation within the strap, since most of my shoes tend to have some variation as well due to factory antiquing & normal wear/polishing.
When making an order, would requesting a bias toward a lighter batch/strap from your available stock do any good?
Yes, very true, at least on my screen. Theres a but however! The Oak Brown is completely full grain and hand dyed by Bakers so its colour varies both on the same strap and between batches. The character (which is its point really) is consistent, but if you want a very specific colour to match a pair of shoes for e.g. its not easy to get, though we try.
I hope that makes sense?
