Should I go to court over this ticket?

I went around the gate at a railroad crossing because it was obviously malfunctioning. Someone came and fixed it while the cop was writing my ticket.

Lawyers of SF, do I have any chance of getting out of this?

Yes, if you are in Pennsylvania and can afford my fee.

You should always go to court (or have an attorney go for you) for a ticket.

Yes, and see if you can get a record of the repair.

If your state lets you fight tickets by mail i'd go that route. This method drives them crazy.

Your chance of beating the ticket if you don't fight it, however, are 0%.

Why would you plead guilty (i.e. pay the ticket uncontested) if you aren't guilty?

Because I think if I go to court and lose, I have to pay an extra $50 plus two nights out of my life, but I figure if I'm ever going to get out of a ticket in my life it'll be this one so it'll at least be worth the experience of going biggrin.gif

Thanks for the advice guys.
I have spoken to a couple cops and a couple lawyers that are friends of friends and it seems like I have a decent chance, still keeping my fingers crossed that the officer just won't show though shog[1].gif It was Sheriff's dept.
