Also, don't know if it's been discussed but that little window that pops up for a PM renders PMing nearly impossible on an iPhone4

Some of this stuff should be fixed in the release tomorrow. One of the things we got was the compact thread list view that optionally removes the 'last post' text and thereby tightens up that page. Again, tomorrow sometime. After that we will see what is still in the pipeline.

I should add that many of the navigation problems for B&S should be solved in tomorrow's release.

I should also add that the compact thread list view will not be the default option, but that you will be able to change this in your settings.

One feature I noticed that I am enjoying is the removal of that stupid fucking 30 second post delay. Thank you for that.

not to open up a hornet's nest here... but I'm sure you guys have considered the idea of paid membership, but how about something along the lines of 'pay X dollars and have the option to remove all affiliate banners', if not only for the reason of not having to look at them, but IMO opening up the board visually to it's max. I can't stand the squashed layout with banners along the side constantly and would pay whatever to just have them removed... then again, I'd rather they were just put unobtrusively to begin with, like at the top and bottom of a page.



oh, I've just had a constructive idea... is it possible to create 'groups' of usermembers? for example, I'll often PM a bunch of local guys about related meetups, or news, etc. I've got a word file with all the names and have to open like 30 tabs to get past the 5-7 person limit. I'd rather just be able to click on a user's profile and save them to a certain group, then send a message and have an option to choose from a saved group. ie send one message to a saved group of like 200 guys.

We are not going to do a membership system of any sort. It's just not the Styleforum way. We are talking about allowing members an option of a view that would be fair to the affiliates (remember, these guys are nearly all participating members of the community,) but where less space would be taken up by ads. This is sort of a longer term project though.

The other constructive idea is a good one. I'll see how much work that would be to do this, and at very least, there should be a way to raise the PM limit, though there is no tool in the admin toolbox that lets me govern this.

SF is still too slow for me. I know it is way too slow for others too. A couple of members in Brazil and Argentina I proxy for have to communicate with me through email. They can access the site, but it is just way too slow for them.

When I go to post a new classified sometimes the pics don't upload. When I go to edit the thread, I can't find any tab to add pics. I have to close that listing and open another with the pics. I think this is a speed related issue on my side.

The main issue IMHO is that the site has so much less activity. I know Alexa stats are crap, but there are less posts and threads. Older members are posting less. Some older members look to have just stopped all together.

I know you guys said there was a way to get out of the Huddler system. Is that still an option?
Did the old BB, Zappos, Endless,... bring in a significant amount of revenue? Through my purchases and proxy purchases I must have earned the site at least $1000 a year. I know of at least a dozen or so members who joined the old site to buy something from me. I am sure they also brought through the links. Many people on SF make $10,000+ BB purchases twice a year. If everybody was to make sure they brought through the links, I am sure SF would make massive amounts of $.


Edit- I am dumb and don't know anything about running and funding a forum as great as SF.
I guess I really just miss the old system.

Could you send me your OS and version, and browser and version, and what sort of adblocking you have enabled? Jeremy and I have found that these can make big differences. We are working on speed constantly, and I know that this is not a fix, but it is a fix.

I'm not going to talk in detail about traffic and activity - all I can say is that it's pretty much on track or better, and that perceptions can be misleading, especially for powerusers who are predispositioned to think and feel a certain way. If you remember, people have been complaining about these issues since day 100 or so. I guess that I can also say that we are monitoring this very carefully, and that the health of the community is top priority for us.

You'll see from the releases later today that The Huddler has actually been very responsive to our requests, specifically geared towards power users like you.

Thanks for responding so quick. Nobody can honestly say you guys aren't trying.

I use at least three different computers during the day. Newest version of Google Chrome and Vista on all three. The home computer is only a year old.
I never tried ad block. I considered it, but thought it would be more trouble than it is worth.

The site is fast enough to sell something and maybe read a small thread. However, it is too slow for me to really contribute(post) or read a threak.

Is there anyway to view all my posts and threads started in order (say, most recent first)? When I look it up it appears to list posts and threads at random. This could be done on the old site, dont understand how it can't be now.
