Constructive ideas on improving the forum - Page 15

I don't like it when people post photos like this but I have all of the sudden seen a bunch of posts with it today:
http://www.styleforum.net/t/263097/no-purchase-club-for-september-2011/210#post_4849957
It forces me to download them and open them on my computer (and if there was ever a jpg exploit in the wild for external viewers, this could be an issue)

Either this option should be completely removed for image files, or image files uploaded as attachments should be trapped and moved to the image hosting section so that they display inline.

Yup, same here too.
Their paging does not work. I do software and web development. Broken paging should not make it past the first round of testing and certainly never make it to production. That is amateur hour stuff.

My constructive idea on improving the forum? Not subjecting members to ads from Ann Taylor Loft.

Just throwing this out there, but I am running Windows 7, Firefox 7.0.1 and the only time I ever have Firefox pop up and say I'm using a HUGE amount of memory 400 mb is when I come to the styleforum.net. I also hear my computer fans running more when I am on here. This isnt a big big deal, but just thought I would let you know as I dont get this on any other website and firefox suggests closing down and restarting due to the excessive memory usage.

PS - Any luck/thought of having some kind of page to be able to easily look though your open classifieds, as I post more it is becoming ever hard to keep track and sift though to bump them.

This feature has been out for a while. I even announced it. If you go to any one of your classifieds, you can now "See all" from the seller. Check it.

Re. the ads. Dude, that's a redirect from Google. In other words, it gave you that because of your browsing history. It's cool. Somehow, I get Chico's frown.gif

I'll bring this up. I haven't heard this before. FWIW, UFC.com completely locks up my computer on Chrome.

I appreciate the response. Can I please blame my wife for my computer's browsing history?

Can quoted posts once again display timestamp info like they used to in vB? Makes navigating larger threads so much easier. Wouldn't even need vertical space, could just be;

How are things coming on the FS ads that can be used by several people - e.g. the Gift Card, Fragrance Sales, Fragrance Split, etc.. These threads are dying in their respective forums. I know J said you guys were working on this.

Maybe. But you can just go back to that post using the little arrow.

it's gotten lost in the shuffle. We'll see what we can do. We did find out that this forum does not, and cannot, support regular threads, so they are going to have to reside somewhere else. I'll welcome suggestions on where they ought to go.

Fack. Well, how about a sub-forum in FS for threads like that? That way it wouldn't be in one of the subsections of FS that could cause the Matrix to collapse upon itself.

It can't actually be in the classifieds section, because that section is configured to only have well, classifieds... Is there any particular reason we wouldn't want those threads to become individual classifieds under "other"? Gift cards, for example, would seem to go under that section well. It would also eliminate the problem of not being able to get seller feedback.

For fragrance sales and gift cards I was attempting to eliminate all the god damn clutter that was the separate FS threads people kept posting. Splits would have to be separate for each fragrance. If that's the way you guys want to play it, then that's the way it'll have to be.
