At least with how I understand the forum B&S rules.

From the forum rules below:

1. General Listing rules
You may list multiple items in a listing, as long as they are all from the same category (e.g., one listing with multiple different ties). However, grouping items in a listing is not mandatory. You may list each item separately if you wish, up to your limit of 15.

6.  Please state your terms clearly.  A set price must be listed for items.  You may be open to offers, but a set price must be listed regardless.  If you have a multi-item listing, there must be at least one item at the price listed.

You're right. I'm travelling right now, but I'll clean things up when I get back. It would be nice for you guys to help out your fellow sellers.

Thanks. Completely missed it.

(Plus, if you've ever made a multi-item thread, you know it's hard to even squeeze-in the most desirable stuff in the title alone...)

If you don't like the way he lists stuff ignore his listings or block him so you dont have to be bothered with the stuff hes selling smile.gif

Ok, to further, further refine my gripe: sellers will often have a thread filled with high priced items and one or two low priced items. They then list the price of the lowest priced item in the threak and tend to name the higher priced items first in the thread title. I then click the thread (or rather, don't so much anymore) thinking, "Whoa, this might be one of those really good deals that pops up from time to time" and then see that the item I was actually interested in is $X-hundred more expensive. I don't have a gripe with that particular seller, it was just a random example.

Long story short, I think that the highest price should be listed or maybe the format should allow for a price range to cover the highest and lowest items. Sorry I wasn't more clear upon first writing, I was tired! shog[1].gif

I tried posting a FS thread for some jeans. It said my classified was posted but the thread is nowhere to be found?

Does the posting have to be approved first or something?

Thanks!

Hi there. I'm new to the forum. I found my way here by googling for a specific pair of pants that I can't find anywhere. Are new users not allowed to post in the classifieds? I'm interested in posting a wanted ad.

Let me know how to do this.

Thank you!

Jon, welcome to the forum. From the rules of the B&S section of the forum.

"New members must wait 45 days in order to be able to post.  This is to cut down on spam and to acclimatize sellers to Styleforum’s norms.  You may bypass this requirement by buying into a premium seller option."

If I (foolishly) listed the price of a more expensive item as the "price" when the ad was first created, and now that item has sold, is it possible to edit that price? I suppose the same question would apply in case of price reductions - are people scrolling through still only going to see the original price? I've edited the thread, but didn't see an option to edit the price. (The thread in question is the only classified in my sig, if you want to see what I'm referring to.)

Edit: And why does the ad below in my sig still refer to the Alden's, which have sold, have been edited out, and according to my profile page, don't show up? Geez, I must really suck at all this computer stuff.shog[1].gif

To edit the price click on "Edit Details" right above the preview picture in the thread and next to the "Bump in X days and XX hours." You should be able to edit everything that way.

Thanks, it takes concentration to miss stuff like that. I have a gift.

I'm having some difficulty with uploading a pic to a classified ad.

I want to include a picture so that it shows up as a thumbnail on the forum thread listing, and for whatever reason, after I select the picture from the my computer and hit submit, it gives me the waiting message, and then it goes back to the post without adding a pic.

any ideas on this?

Thanks

- Refreshing/reloading the page sometimes works. Try that first.

- Don't try listing anything from an iPad just yet.

- If you're using Mozilla, temporarily disable your add-ons like NoScript, AdBlockPlus, etc.

These have always worked for me.

Can we please get some sort of seller moderation in the B&S? Today I've had to deal with not one, but two thread shitters. One was griping about my price, the other was outright misinformative. Sellers should be able to approve all posts before they go up.

At the very least, how about an explicit "no thread shitting" clause at the top of the B&S? It used to exist, but now the rules just say "no sabotage."

I thought there was going to be some seller moderation... guess it never happened.

You need to go back to your profile, and remove the B&S item from your sig.

We are pretty swamped right now. I just got back from nearly 2 weeks on the road. There probably needs to be a dedicated B&S moderator, but I haven't thought of a good person for that job yet. We allow comments for a reason. The seller is of course free to respond. Any abusive language will not be tolerated, of course. That said, please report any post that you feel is designed purely to sabotage your listings.

Mods,

No idea where this goes, and I believe it's been mentioned before, but will the search function for classifieds be updated?
It's a pain when it just shows you a list ot possible threads, no pics, no way to order the results chronologically, does not specify whether the thread results are closed/open classifieds etc etc etc.

Thanks.
