Thanks for the help with this, I do understand that there are only a handful of people who would find this to be  troublesome with very large posts I just happen to be one of them.

"Very large" is an understatement, but we will get this resolved.

Cheers,

I'd get rid of 1/2 the "stuff" as it's hidden after being sold, but the new B&S rules say it has to stay in the listing after sold. There are 100,000+ characters just in sold items. Is there a a special title for the biggest thread? lol Sorry to be a pain with maxing out the thread character limit.

i remember someone said that it doesnt make a difference if you delete stuff as they can just get it back anyways...

you could just keep some kind of something to remind you that the item was there and sold in that thread and delete all the small talk and pictures...

Nah, it's not a problem. There was not supposed to be any limit anyway. I think that a developer imposed it temporarily for some test, forgot to get rid of it, and then it went through QA, because no one thought to make a 1MM character post to test it.

Cheers.

How many posts do you need before you can use the buy/sell feature of the site?

In the rules of the B&S forum, bottom of #1:

New members must wait 45 days in order to be able to post.  This is to cut down on spam and to acclimatize sellers to Styleforum’s norms.  You may bypass this requirement by buying into a premium seller option

I apologize in advance for asking questions that must have been answered previously, but my until-now-strong search skills have failed me.

I'm trying to list an item for the first time (Alden longwings) in the B&S forum. I'm using an iPad.

In the "Post a New Classified" page, I have been unable to do several things: 1) I can't click into the "Ship to Only these places:" space; 2) there's no link at "Item photos"'; and most importantly 3) when I click submit, nothing happens.

Is this a Flash/iOS issue? What's an iPad user supposed to do?

Also, since I apparently can't upload images directly, I was thinking of copying links to my Photobucket accounty (again, I've never done this before). Is this appropriate?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Haven't searched the thread, but it's ridiculous how sellers list the price for their lowest price item as the "price" when everything else may be priced much higher. Thus, you see (e.g.) "New John Lobbs, RLPL cashmere, Tom Ford angel taint hair..." and the price is like $25. Click the thread and there are 20 items priced >$500, with one beat as hell J. Crew sweater at the bottom for $25.

That dosent make sense, I thought the point of the multi-item listing was the list things that were basically the same, aka shoes, shirts, suits, etc etc etc. If you have John Lobbs, in with Allen Edmonds and some crappy off brand shoes you all in the same listing and the off brand shoes are only $25, that would be OK, but if you have expensive shoes mixed with crappy sweaters that is no good. At least with how I understand the forum B&S rules.

From the forum rules below:

1. General Listing rules
You may list multiple items in a listing, as long as they are all from the same category (e.g., one listing with multiple different ties). However, grouping items in a listing is not mandatory. You may list each item separately if you wish, up to your limit of 15.

6.  Please state your terms clearly.  A set price must be listed for items.  You may be open to offers, but a set price must be listed regardless.  If you have a multi-item listing, there must be at least one item at the price listed.

Yeah, this shit is annoying as fuck when you're trying to scroll through by price:

Too many $0 items lately...with nary a free item in sight!

Dude's got like five threads like this, too. Feel like I should be getting paid for sifting through his treachery....

my point isn't about what is mixed together, moreso about how sellers list "desirable" products first in the title and then a low price but none of the desirabe products are anywhere near the low price.

case in point: http://www.styleforum.net/t/261149/price-cut-megathread-nwt-pants-rlbl-valentini-incotex-mabitex-wool-linen-cotton-monarchy-premium-jeans

Any chance of a new WTB section? I don't understand why that wasn't carried over.

I bought a pair of Mabitex from this seller (and that thread) for not much more than that. I get your point, but I think this is a pretty weak example. It's definitely within the rules.

(Plus, if you've ever made a multi-item thread, you know it's hard to even squeeze-in the most desirable stuff in the title alone...)

That imo is a really bad example of an issue with the way people sell stuff. He mentions the jeans in the title and has 3 pairs for $45 and one pair for $49. Just because he also has other pants that are more expensive he is following the rules of the new forum. If you don't like the way he lists stuff ignore his listings or block him so you dont have to be bothered with the stuff hes selling :)

Click on your user name in the top right. Then, scroll all the way down until you see your sig. Underneath that you'll see "edit signature text". Click that, then the editor will popup and the 3 available slots to put your goods in will be there. You, of course, will have had to have listed the items already.
