Even after the update/maintenance today, same thing:

 

Every time you try to filter B&S

 

An error occurred while making the request, please try again. 

B&S sorting still hasn't been fixed?

figured this new update would address it

Could you guys please try it in a different browser? I'm not getting any error message. Today's update was pretty much all aesthetic, there wasn't time to address any other glitches, unfortunately. We've been pretty wrapped up with that for a while.

Text spacing is really odd, looks like it's trying to fully justify text or something?

Also, the jump to newest unread post thing still isn't working for me. Been a couple weeks now. If you link in to a thread from the main forum, it'll jump to the first unread post, but the "unread posts" link doesn't do anything.

Doesn't work for me on either Firefox or IE.

Using Firefox I get:

"An error occurred while making the request, please try again."

Using Internet Explorer I get:

"missing FROM-clause entry for table "tag_item_map"
There Seems to be a Problem
We're sorry, but there's been an error in our system, and we can't complete your request. Please report this error to us, using our feedback system. Thanks!"

Been like this for weeks now. Kind of annoying.

Does it work in another browser? There was a similar issue with some browsers and the posts-per-page option being other than default, a while back. Thought it was fixed though.

Exact same as him for myself,

 

Both Chrome and Firefox give me "An error occurred while making the request, please try again." whenever I choose a Category to sort with in B&S, but like NukeMe said, IE gives that different error.  Hopefully something can be done and I can finally hunt for shoes properly again!!

I'm told this will be included in the fixes on Wednesday.

I'll say what so many are thinking. It's shocking that those who run this site would be working on changing the color of the pages instead of making sure that the forum actually works. This particular problem has been reported publicly and via PM by how many people? Over how many weeks? Did one of the mods say today 'I can't replicate the issue'?? Hopefully I misread, because that would be extremely difficult to understand

I feel like I can say all this because I am someone who used to spend a whole lot of time here and I've been a quiet, respectful member of the community. How many months has it been since the change to Huddler? And the forum still doesn't work?

I'll include all the usual disclaimers - I am a rabid capitalist and I was happy that the owners decided to increase income by using Huddler. I want the place to succeed. I just think it's crazy how badly things have gone and continue to go. The change in appearance today made me shake my head. The only explanation I can come up with is that with all the problems, their plan is actually working and they're making the extra revenue they anticipated, and so they don't really care that things don't work.

No, you read it correctly, I couldn't replicate the issue. I tried sorting B&S and it worked totally fine. On two browsers. In any case, it had already been reported up the chain and is already mostly fixed, and should be fine on Wednesday. I'm sorry it took so long, but really, there is nothing Fok or I can do except report things and try to be patient. I can't just pop into the back end and start wrenching around anymore.

 

The forum "doesn't work" because things keep getting changed, mostly, we hope, for the better. When you change anything in a system like this, you break some things. The system is much more complicated now and things take longer to fix and check. We are trying to get it to do a lot of stuff, for you guys to enjoy, that it doesn't already do. We put the whole launch on hold for months to build the B&S system from scratch (which even in its broken state is IMO much improved over the old system) and try to get it working well.

 

In short, of course we care when things don't work. We try to get them fixed as quickly as we can. Unfortunately, things take a lot longer to fix now. And the only reason the old site appeared to work better (even though it was falling apart) was that it wasn't materially improved for years and you were used to it. It's kind of like going from an old dependable beater that you can work on with a crescent wrench and duct tape, to a new high tech luxury car that requires a couple of computers and maybe an expensive exhaust sniffer before you even open the hood. The new one does a lot more, and when it breaks down you might wish for the beater, but when it you're driving it again you realize why it is worth it.

I'm not a troll so I'm not going to get into a long exchange with you on this. I appreciate the response. I went back to see when the big switchover happened. I can hardly believe this (you'll notice I said 'months' since the change to Huddler occurred) but has it been a year and a half?? Sorry j. To me, something's wrong.

The sorting function, which was supposed to be one of the bedrock changes that we could take advantage of, has been busted for 4 weeks. I don't believe it takes professional programmers 4 weeks to fix something that they've been working to get right for 16 months. If it does, there's something seriously wrong with either the programmers or the software on which they're working.

You might ask me 'Why are you even posting any of this? What's your problem? If you don't like the site, leave!'. The point for me is twofold. First, it kills me to see a small internet business like you guys, who had a corner on this market, running into these kind of problems. Part of my job is to go into situations where people are having a hard time making a particular project work (nothing to do with tech or the 'net) and look at why things aren't working and fix them. I guess that's partly why it's actually frustrating for me.

Another reason is just that this website is one of the very few that actually made a difference in my life. I had dressed in all black (the uniform for people in my business) for 15 years and this site totally broke me out of that and showed me that I could look like I was in the business but still look like I belonged in the real world and had some style. I came here to buy a suit and spent the next two years on the site every day. It changed my life in a small way. I don't spend time here any more because of the problems with the site and the way it's laid out now. It might look like I do because it's one of the tabs that opens when I launch my browser, but I am actually not around that much.
