Everyday casual black derbies -- suggestions?

I've been looking around for some black plaintoe derby/oxford/etc. shoes to wear casually with jeans. It's amazing how hard it is to find something quite like what I want (see pics for approximations, disregarding color, texture, and age; I'd rather "distress" them the old way). Since I'd be wearing these in casual situations and would like to be able to bike with them, I don't think I can justify anything extremely slick or expensive. Anyone know where I can find something like this? Any thoughts, suggestions, alternatives, I'd appreciate them! imag0106f.jpeg 120k .jpeg file OurLegacy_PlainToeShoe_KnottedLeather.jpeg 85k .jpeg file These are not my shoes, these are the shoes of an African man who I took a picture of. I wonder how long these things have been worn and where they’ve been.jpeg 63k .jpeg file

hmm if your not going to shell over $200, look into Frye on sale.

Thanks. And if $200-$250 is ok? I've had good experience with quality shoes and could see justifying it for something I wear often and want to break in well.

Paul Smith makes wonderful casual derbies. Look at the Cage and the Minnelli.

Moma (which almost always lasts deep into sale season on Yoox) is also a good bet.

+1 the Frye James might be what you are looking for.

Paul Smiths etc. can all be had on sale.
I would wait and not go for Fryes but that's me.

Buying Fryes is horrible advice. Save more money to spend and wait for a sale. While you're saving money, actually read through current threads and WAYWT in order to find derbies that are both quality shoes and SF approved.
