Hey Sufu styleforum,
Long time lurker and first time poster here. I'm moving to Los Angeles and I'd like to invest in a good year-round everyday shoe to offer a counterpoint to my brown leather Sperry's in functionality and style. I plan to use the shoes primarily biking back and forth between Echo Park and downtown, but I'd like to be able to just kick around in them, too. My everyday wear during the week is very casual and consists of a pair of APC New Standards with 1" cuffs, and a pair of black Levi's 511 twill jeans with white, gray, navy, or shades of black v-necks paired with cardigans or a light jacket on top. I tend to wear slim chinos and taupe suede desert boots on the weekend for small excursions such as camping, hiking, or yardwork, but between that and my Sperry's, my casual footwear is significantly lacking.
What are some recommendations that would be flexible between the days of the week and my wardrobe?
I have a few pair of Vans in mind as I'm naturally inclined to buy a pair because they're ingrained in SoCal culture, but I'm open to other ideas.
Grey/Black Dual Chambray Authentics
Elephant Grey/Harstop Grey Versas
Those are a few pairs I'm considering at the moment. What are your thoughts?
Thanks!
Alex
