Can you get hit by customs if you order from China ?

You mean order from Yoox.cn for local delivery?

I translated this from Yoox.cn FAQ: Yoox has a warehouse in Shanghai, China and when the purchased items are stocked there and shipped domestically there'll be no customs issue, delivered within 3-5 days. When items are dispatched from the Italy warehouse Fedex will act as the customs clearance agent, delivered in 11-15 days.

Yoox has registered as an overseas company in China and has products priced and paid in CNY. Based on my understanding of China's customs potential issues with overseas luxury goods purchase Yoox has well mitigated customs risk.

My experience with Fratelli and Santoni is that they are at least 1/2 size larger.  Sometimes 1 full size but YMMV.

That is so weird I didnt know Santoni on yoox said fit large but I have a pair of Santoni from a different store and I sized up as they fit a little too snug.

Word of advice: never use YOOX cash for your refund and never use YOOX exchange feature when returning items. Instead just reorder another size or color as a new order. It will come to you quicker and if it becomes discounted you can adjust the price without circular talk from cs. YOOX cash in case of returns will be refunded back to YOOX cash regardless of your combined payment. They will always treat your refunded items as if they were bought with YOOX cash even if your order was much bigger than YOOX cash amount. It creates marry-go-round with your money that takes a long time to stop. So just don't do it.

how are items purchased with yoox cash treated?

You can never trust Yoox definition of "fit large" or many other descriptions such as " mid-rise" or "low-rise" on pants. Just an example, I ordered a sport coat last week on their 90% off Final Clearance sale in my usual size although it said "fit large" , guess what, I get a jacket in drop 8. Thankfully it is okay in the shoulders and has decent length to it, but i may need to loose a few pounds to properly button it.

I think Yoox is basing their descriptions of "fit large" on some historical reference (i.e Brunnello Cuccinelli) that may not be true anymore as some brands went through major rebranding or for instance British/Scottish brands (Aquastcutum, Drumohr) were acquired by Italian companies and as a result the cuts have changed dramatically to slimmer versions.

Isnt' there some financial incentive to take the refund in Yoox cash? I thought they don't charge $5 restocking fee if you take it in Yoox cash, but i might be wrong. I have only done it once, but that was because I wanted to them to process the refund fast enough to use the money towards another item I was watching in my Dreambox that was part of the promo. I would never take Yoox cash for anything larger than, say $150.

From what I understood the fits large/small also comes from a general consensus of return forms as to if it fit or not and if you clicked that it fit too large or small.

I thought that returns are free anyways, or you mean that they don't charge the $5 return fee.

This maybe the case, but it seems that Yoox is applying this as a blanket for all items of specific designer/maker. However i believe that many people that are returning the items are using the fit small/fit large as the default response instead of getting into the details why they don't want the item.

The return reason fit large/small hasn't been taken into account as product info as you can imagine the quality would be inconsistent. At least a couple years ago the product fit large/small info was provided by the vendors.

Word of advice . . .

Hmm, I used to carry moneyoox balances, never that much and they'd usually get eaten by a larger purchase eventually. I was buying more frequently at the time, so didnt seem like a big deal as I knew I'd use the credit.

I mentioned this on this thread about a year and half ago, but it bears mentioning again: I had some moneyoox stored up for a while once and got a special offer notification by email. Can't remember now exactly what it was, but I think it was an extra percentage discount if I used my moneyoox to buy something. I have the feeling that they must offer really good discounts for the moneyoox balances at certain times (maybe before their earnings announcements . . . ) so that they can recognize the revenue if you use it. Or maybe they know that if you have $100 of moneyyoox you'll end up spending just a few dollars more of regular money and they'll be able to squeeze out a bit of revenue (again, this would make sense of they were trying to hit a number at the end of a quarter or something).

@Rusty what you said makes perfect sense and yoox does have incentive control this pool of deferred revenue. I guess they send out discount codes to those top whatever moneyoox accounts. I never got one although I often have <$100 moneyoox balance.
