Thanks.

I have a few possibly stupid questions, but going to ask them anyway: any rule behind which items/brands make it to the sample sale, or is it totally random? Are most items/brands from winter collection transferred to sample sale, or is it more like 50%, let's say? From your experience, are whole brands excluded from the sample sale or just single items?

No one knows. Some brands are not going to sample sale. More random drops following weeks, most interesting stuff will be sold out in a couple of weeks.

I've been eyeing a blazer on Yoox, about which the site says "Fits Small" and recommends sizing up. Anyone have experience with how reliable that kind of recommendation from them is? I was kind of surprised to see any kind of acknowledgement of sizing issues.

That seems pretty underhanded

explain to me what is underhanded about it - this is how it's marketed:

When your new shoes arrive, they don't quite match the dress. But if you used your Card, Return Protection1 is there to help you make it right.

• No More Shopping Regrets - In the event you change your mind about a purchase, Return Protection 1 offers an extended return policy on designated items purchased entirely with an eligible American Express

Card.
• 90 Days of Protection - If you try to return an eligible item purchased fully with your eligible American Express

Card in the U.S., the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico or the U.S. Virgin Islands within 90 days from the date of purchase and the merchant won’t take it back, we can refund the purchase price.
• Up to $300 Coverage - You can be reimbursed for up to $300 per eligible item, excluding shipping and handling, up to $1,000 annually per Card account.

I'd say that's pretty much exactly what it's intended for.

items in the sample sale are mostly unique to the sample sale and not necessarily from one of the collections.

I think those sizing recs are based off of information provided by the buyer when they return the item. I once ordered a pair of uk11 Trickers but instead received a uk11. I returned the item and stated wrong size, too small. Couple weeks later they pop up online with sizing recommendation "runs small"

Order both sizes and return the one that does not fit. Did I just blow your mind?

But you're breaching the shop's return policy by strongarming them with your credit card company.

which items? Both of these brands could run very small, so it's a lottery.

The tonello was the last one in cut / color I got my usual size (50) and its short (not an issue for me as I'm short) and sleeves are normal 40 length. The shoulders are about 17.75 and chest at 41 or so and it's a bit tight when I button. Need to lose a bit of weight anyways though

The aquarama was last one too but there were so many variations of what seemed like the same blackwatch blazer, I found it more tts and proper length by today's standards. It is lined with wool blend inside though so it's more of a jacket cut blazer style. Polyester body is ok, kinda like a cheap nanamica jacket

Interesting, thanks! So rather than wondering about Yoox's judgment, I have to wonder about the judgment of the last dude who tried it on. :paranoia:

Ah, but only one size is available. If I need to size up, it's perfect; if not, then it's one size too big. I should probably just order and return it if it's too big. :fu:

Isnt there a tendency for yoox merchandise in size 40 to run small/short/tight? I've encountered this problem with jackets/suits by Lardini, Tombollini, LBM and few others. I think size 40 should correspond to at least 18 in shoulders and 44 in chest. So now I either order size 52 or anticipate a possible mismatch with sizing.

Amex takes the item back and you are refunded by amex assurance co. It's lnsurance and doesn't come from the merchant.

OH. Ok. That's different then - I assumed they were forcing the merchant into a chargeback, which seemed really dishonest to me.

It's Italian brands you listed. 44 chest is quite big for a European 50. I take 52 in a bunch of stuff too like bogoli

Wouldn't say it runs small by any means. Maybe get more American or english cuts? Most of those are 18/44 set up usually and longer
