A few years ago prices on the "Canadian" Yoox site were 10-20% higher than on the US site. Then when our currency climbed to pairity with the US$ there was a lot of preassure on US retailers to match Canadian prices with US prices, and Yoox obliged, despite having to swallow duties and taxes when the items were shipped into Can from the NJ warehouse. All in all Canadians were getting a pretty good deal and this has been going on for few years now. It looks like that time has come to an end. I can't say I blame them. I can't see how it's in their business model to accept 10+ points margin less in Canada than they get in the US.

Well I can say the customs will probably deter me from ever shopping there again. I'm not going to pay near retail for 2 season old product.

I'm sure they don't care about my business, since I haven't made too many purchases from them. However, Ill bet there are lots of Canadians that will feel the same when they get to check out.

I've spent anywhere from $1500 to $3000 per year at Yoox for the last 5 or six years. Not huge numbers but not chump change either. I will not order again unless its something I can't do without.

I'm guessing you didn't place your order? I would have picked up the shirt I wanted yesterday, but it just won't be happening with $50 in taxes on top.

Best revolt is to hold all purchases until they drop their prices.

,

No, I didn't. I make a lot of frivolous spontaneous purchases at yoox. Mostly because the prices are decent and I won't be out of pocket much if it doesn't work out. That ends today, unfortunately.

I just went to place an order while the 20% code was still active, and low and behold... at checkout Yoox is now charging LOCAL TAXES AND DUTY! This is on top of their normal shipping charges! So on a $203 order I'm being dinged with another $82 in shipping/duty/taxes! WTF?!

CANADIANS UNITE AND REVOLT!

Just tried and found out the tax/duty adds 30% on the top. Really, WTF?!

Further proof that Canada sucks

I have also been shopping with Yoox for years to Canada and was planning to buy more in the future.  Now with this extra tax I might as well just buy when it goes on regular sale from a shop or department store.  This is so disappointing for myself and I am sure many other Canadians.  I plan on calling them for an explanation and reasons why I should still give them my money.  Why do Canadians always get screwed with international shopping?  censored.gif

The ship-to-Canada tax amounts to precisely 28% (I checked a $34 item and a $2500 item).

Much of the new fall-winter stock (see Kolor blazers, for instance) is priced at or slightly above the original merchandise retail price.

Yoox has just lost most of my business. I will probably never buy anything again unless it's in the sale section and there's a 20% code.
$500 item -20% coupon +28% tax = $512, so it almost evens out (but the buyer still loses in the end FFS)

EDIT: keep in mind this is the same company behind [full-price] TheCorner.com and the online store for Diesel.com (one among many "powered by Yoox") which DO NOT ship to Canada at all, even now, when random boutiques in deepest darkest continental Europe offer easy global shipping through Farfetch or their own online stores. I send them a message every now and again just to remind them there are Canadians who would buy from these stores if they offered the same damn international service they do (or did until today, apparently) to Canada through Yoox, but they just don't give a shit.

If anyone speaks to Yoox before I do can you please post any information that they give about why Canadians should pay this much and why we should continue shopping with them.  It would be greatly appreciated.  I cannot understand why they would risk losing thousands of customers and dollars.  uhoh.gif

Seems a little odd...surely an incremental increase would be better for now.
