Check out Drake's London's website for a good example of a website that is laid out almost identically to yours but looks much more polished.

From a design perspective, I disagree very strongly. For the record, I dislike the Drake's site's layout and organization immensely.

But, if we're going to get into it, here's what I think:

The fonts should remain "generic" as long as you're working in HTML and not Flash/Silverlight, because you need to ensure your font hierarchy is available to the majority of your users. Your current fonts do this. Fancy fonts are the purview of people who are attempting to disguise a lack of content, in my experience. Verdana and other fonts are packaged with all major OSes specifically so that all web users can use them - and they've been designed for clarity and reability on-screen, something most other fonts are not designed for.

IF you wish to spruce up your fonts with something more stylized, you'll want to replace all of your headers, subheaders, and all that with images - which, as I'm sure you can imagine, increases turnaround time on updating your site considerably.

What I WOULD recommend doing - since Bleachboy is right about the SECTION: Browse Our Products... headers - would be to reorganize what those are. Those big images are usually called "hero items" , and you probably don't want to duplicate your drop-down menu with them. A section about new items, a section for deals/sales, and a section for your process or physical store would be best, I think. I'd also add a brief blurb about Panta between the search bar and the hero items, to give it a more pleasing spacing.

Ed,

I know you are very busy, so I hope it is not an inconvenience to ask... but I would be interested in several ties in 62" length.

It is possible? Let me know as you can.

Best,

Mark

ps. the site looks great. the fabric selection of ties even better.

Thanks Mike. I am already working on the next batch of ties, just tell me which fabrics here interest you and I will get some 62 inch ties made up in them or something similar.

Beautiful ties!

I dislike the Ties Browse or products >. Ties > should be enough

Search then box and search button is also too long. Just box followed by search button should be enough

Ed, I would love the three I bought in 62" if possible, didn't ask as I didn't think it was possible. If you've not already sent them, I'd be happy to wait for the next batch.

By the way, I filmed an art documentary recently for UK TV and wanted to look my best so I wore the cashmere herringbone I bought from your first batch!

Ed these look great man. Sending you a pm for the denim linen as I missed out on the denim cashmere. Good stuff.

Congratulations. Outstanding collection of ties.

I can't buy any, my wife caught me looking at the pictures.

Fabulous ties.

As for the site, I would change the pictures. Don't show people, especially not people holding bottles, show just the product. E.g. for the pic in the middle, something like this:

Just my two cents. I'll be buying stuff anyway. :)

Jonnyt, just let me know if you want to wait and I'll refund your money. I'll make 62 inches in the next batch but it won't be all the same fabrics and it will be at least 8 weeks.

AJ, I'll get them to take off the "browse products"
