Hi SF.. Im a senior @ Florida International University, pursuing B.Managent. Now..I dont know if it is my university in particular but I feel like I haven't learned a thing ( this is obv an overstatement), but I feel like a college education is supposed to make me feel a lot more prepared and knowledgeable ( i.e. when I read the business section of the WSJ, im still googleyed). I understand management is not Finance, but I've taken a couple finance&economics courses as pre-reqs, and I have a 3.4 gpa, so I wouldn't classify myself as a slacker.
Thus I've arrived to the conclusion that I made a pretty big mistake majoring in Management. Feels more like a title (bought, at that)that allows you to network, which might be fine and handy by today's standards, but is not what I was trying to get out of college. As opposed to a degree thats backed by actual knowledge such as medicine, engineering, or maybe actual Finance (doesn't help that I have a family of Doctors and Engineers)
On to the main topic..I had originally planned to further my education past a Bachelor's, and given how my undergrad has turned out, there's a lot more stress on what decision I make now. By process of elimination; I won't be pursuing medicine, or engineering. Second, honestly I'm a bit disappointed with anything business related, I know that a better school might offer a complete different experience but I also have to consider that it might not be for me. In addition I've been told and researched that at times an MBA on top of an already existing Business Degree can render useless, at least before a few years of experience. The problem with this is that ideally I would like finish off my studies in a straight shot, however I'll take all the advice I can get. Finally, my most promising option atm is law school. I understand the legal market is saturated, but to my benefit, I would not be going only for the job and $$ opportunities after it, but for the learning experience, and to become a professional.
Anyway, Im definitely going through a transitional phase, any input would be greatly appreciated.
