Who are you? Where are you?

Present thyselves. It looks like I may be down on that little rock this weekend (tbc - depending on flights)

I am notoriously busy when I am there catching up with old friends (I lived there for abt 2 yrs), but assuming I can swing it at some point, anyone want to make an SF Laksa run to Katong Rd, then I am in.

partly right. most'd have no clue what
sartorial" means, that is why places like G2000 could thrive well in SG.

>>to the poster m&T,

what do you want to present>>? i've tried tailoring in Just at golden shoe, personality and men's tradition at pennisula, and personality more like my regular place now... always thought of trying out Victor York, but havent got the chance yet..

i know victor york offers bespoke service,,, anyone try their service before?

i'm actually more into shoes,,
and you know what >> compare to tailoring, the upmarket dress shoes scene is freakin pathetic..

it's like so many people thought Bally and Ferragamo are the epitome of quality in shoe making!!

thought?

welcome to the forum...I lived in Singapore for about 2 years, so wasnt really looking for anything down there, mostly just a forum meet up session.

...and youre right, there are no shoes in Singapore worth owning.

This thread is a revival from December, but not sure when my next trip is, my travel schedule is kinda booked solid thru almost June now. Will let you guys know if I sneak down there again though.

The one summer job app in which I mentioned an interest in Singapore ended up being the one I took. So I'll be there again this summer, from late June to late August, though I may be staffed somewhere else.

Most Singaporeans would think good but inexpensive shirts come from G2000. Sometimes, a departmental store like John Little might have a shirt or two for really cheap at under S$30 - the quality is dubious but for that price acceptable.

The ones with slightly more money to splash would consider Zara or Marks & Spencers. Departmental stores like Isetan and Metro stock up rather expensive shirts from labels like Pierre Cardin. Raoul seems to be the choice of the rich and young. I might be wrong though.

Bespoke shirts, made-to-measure shirts and the like have never truly featured in the Singapore male's wardrobe, I think. And that is a pity because I think one can really find good made-to-measure shirts at a rather competitive price.

But I am still looking myself too. My search just started.

Zara shirts are a decent buy when they have them on sale. At full price they are 'just another'.

I used to get shirts made by Lee Ya at Fu Lu Shou center...I was pretty happy with them, and a couple are still in the rotation 5 yrs on.

Another Singaporean here... albeit living and working in Sydney.

Also post under Cool Breeze; got sick of looking at my misspelt alias (Zegna NOT Zenga)

Totally agree that bespoke isn't part of the average Singaporean male's wardrobe. Put it down to the unforgiving heat and humidity.

BTW, whenever I return for a holiday, I find only the usual suspects: Zegna, Boss, Armani, RL, LV etc. Of these, I'd only consider Zegna for a suit, and MTM at that (surprise, surprise). Does anyone out there know if the likes of Borrelli and Kiton retail ANYWHERE at all on the Island?!? I have a nasty suspicion the answer is a resounding 'NO!', but well, here's hoping I'm wrong.

Just thought I'd say hi anyway!
