any of you guys involved in the scene?

Not much of a scene for downtempo/chillout in the Tampa/St Pete area. Although Washed Out played St. Pete last year- great show.

I live near the beach and have recently been thinking that it would make for a great Cafe Del Mar experience since we also have killer sunsets. Unfortunately the beach bars either play bad Jimmy Buffet covers or overplayed classic rock.

Naples can get a lot of Europeans. Maybe they'd want an Ibiza-styled chillout bar.

I'm no longer in south florida as of 10 days ago, but Miami had a handfull of lounges/bars that played deep house or chillout tracks

you'd hear songs like this at many places:
The Messenger - The Way We Were

If you Florida guys wanna drive down to Miami and check out some places:

Zen Sushi Lounge downtown...turns into a bar at night
Nikki Beach on some nights
Mokai Lounge
Pearl
Mandarin Oriental
Doraku
DiLido
Grass Lounge - good place, i think they closed down tho

and there's tons of others I'm probably leaving out

Thanks for the tips, I'm not in Florida often, as I go to school in Maryland and spend as much time as possible in NYC when I'm not there but I come home to Boca to visit the fam a few times a year.

Worthy of a 90's Chicago loft party at 4 am. Good post; the chords transported me to "back in the day."

Not feeling this one at all. Too stripped down and repetitive in all the wrong ways. Voice wasn't all that great either.

This is one of those things where it's pretty easy to bump into something that sucks but the good stuff is great. I have gigs of this music. Here's one:

Heh, I liked how the top rated comment described this song as Earth's National Anthem (the poached footage from BBC's Planet Earth series helps with evoking that image though).

Anyway, always loved this one.

Orbital - Halcyon & On & On

BTW, anybody know what's up with the video embedding issues the forum has been having? Seems like every other video is hit or miss.
