Staying at the Conrad right now. It's pretty nice. You gotta go all out and get the exec treatment for a little more money, but the champagne is free flow and the breakfast is free as well. For what it costs, it better be nice though...

There's not a Conrad in Seattle so.....I wouldn't know what it's like.

This seems vaguely Jeromestylesque.

There's one fairly conspicuous brand missing from the list.

Doesn't La Quinta mean "behind the Denny's?"

humor me. I thought it meant "Behind the McDonalds."

Aman Resorts & Peninsula Hotels are my favorite

No chain does service quite like the Aman properties and my favorite of theirs so far is Amanpulo in the Philippines: Amanpulo. Soon I'm going to visit the location in Utah called Amangiri . Excited about that. Looks amazing

So there are two Marriot choices in this 'Jerome?' ballot, but NO Accor brands!. .... biased....fail.

I try not to stay at chain hotels if possible but Four Seasons and Shangrila could be added to the list.

Banyan Tree but I guess they are not a typical "chain". Other than that, I really don't care whether I stay at a JW or a Mandarin Oriental. I do try to avoid the W

I've stayed at the Westin in Berlin and St. Martin. Both were fantastic with great service (though I'm low maintenance).

I found the Beijing Crown Plaza to be very nice. Their restaurant of Yunnan cuisine is delicious. In the US, if it's just an overnight pit stop or something out of necessity, I prefer in the Marriot or Sheraton. In New York, I like the W. I prefer the 4 seasons in DC because of the Georgetown location. In Miami my family likes to forgo chains and stay at one of the smaller hotels along South Beach. When i travel to a city that I'm unfamilar with, I skim the reviews, find something downtown, and aim for the most "prestigious" hotel that I consider well priced. In China, if I'm with family, we prefer the Shangri La or the Crown Plaza. If I travel alone, I've actually found the Chinese Holiday Inn's much nicer than the American ones. I've never vacationed for a long enough period of time in any one place in Europe so I'm not comfortable branching out and exploring the plethora of non chain hotels. I usually end up staying at a higher end American chain though when travelling with extended family I once stayed at the Hassler in Rome which was an incredible experience.

My dog's favorite is Kimpton hotels, seriously. They have the most liberal pet-friendly policies that I'm aware of, and nice accommodations for people, too. They have hotels in Chicago (i.e., Monaco, Palomar, Bernum, and Allegro), New York (i.e., Park 70, Ink 48, among others), DC, Atlanta, and elsewhere.
