i could really notice the injury problems on D. every goal was some instance of D fail outside of bourques first which just beat price; i couldnt believe his 2nd one, 3rd rebound with 3 habs in front of the net not doing anything. rough

Sweet jesus the Canucks suck at October. But what REALLY pisses me off is referees who are just GIDDY at the opportunity to call clipping. No, you morons, it's not clipping if he doesn't even cradle the dude, he hit him mid-body. That's just a hipcheck. Remember those? Hockey used to have those.

To be fair, Lappy was on his knees trying to defend himself. He certainly wasn't fighting (that aint his style!) but he didn't exactly turtle.

It finally feels good to be an Oiler fan again. I can't believe how well Ryan NH has been playing. I don't think many people were expecting him to stick around for more than 9 games. There's no way he's going back now.

I'm not a fan of the "rebuild through the (top 5) draft" method, Pittsburgh Penguins style, but I guess you gotta do what you gotta do.

The Oilers didn't really have any other option.

seriously, even when they made it to the finals they were the 8th seed on roloson's back. fine showing from "the kid line." not sure if RNH deserves the hatty as hall clearly put his 3rd one in, but whatever, he's been excellent thus far. edmonton is going to be fucking terrifying in 3 years or so if they can get some solid defence and if dubnyk continues to develop.

I should have rephrased. I don't think the Oilers ever purposefully tanked like the Penguins did. But I'm always sort of disappointed when a team goes out and lands consecutive high picks and then magically "rebuilds". It doesn't take much skill to draft well in the first five picks of the draft.

I'm still happy Edmonton is doing well though.

If I remember correctly, the Penguins tanked in order to draft Lemieux as well. It's part of their heritage. Haha

Edmonton has been a poorly run organization since Wayne Gretzky was sold. The team's drafting record has been awful, the owners haven't had enough money, and management was hired on their past success as players, not their front office acumen. Rebuilding has been much more than just getting high draft picks. The whole organization has been re hauled. As a long suffering Oiler fan, it's refreshing to see.

If Detroit, as ugly and unlivable city as it is, can attract high calibre players, then there is no reason why Edmonton, another ugly and unlivable city, can't be successful too.

as much as i detest the leafs, burke + wilson, their fanbase of sheep, and overpriced tickets, i think they might just pull something out of their ass this year.

FLA is surprising, looks like tallon made the right moves in the offseason. Avs coming through too, though something tells me another collapse is in the making if varlamov doesnt keep it up.
