NHL 2011-2012 Thread - Page 95

Wow. Second line was great all night, never saw Kreider play at BC but if he can maintain that kind of intensity, he is going to be fun to watch. Ottawa was better in their offensive zone than the Rangers but the Rangers made the best of their transition opportunities.

Pleased with the officiating in Game 7. They probably could have let Cowan and Dubinsky's penalty go seeing that there was a bunch of that stuff, but overall good job by the stripes.

I assume the Flyers play the Rangers. That's tough.

Rangers will play the Caps.

NHL has reseeding, hence number one seed (Rangers) dont play the 4/5 winner since a lower seed (Capitals at #7) advanced.

I'm excited for Caps Rangers series. Meeting 3 times in 4 years can get some hate going. Rangers have played the Caps tough this year, though the Caps won easily the last game of the season when the Rangers decided they didn't care about he Pres Trophy. Hopefully this series ends the same way as the last two.

More game 7 overtime!!!

So the Flyers will play the winner of Florida / Devils?
Awwww, too bad you don't get points for OT losses in the playoffs, Florida. Devils play the Flyers. I'd have to pick the Flyers in that one, but i assume the Devils will defend better than the Pens did.

Was really hoping to see the Panthers advance. Oh well.

I think the Rangers need to make a few tactical adjustments if they want to beat Washington. The Caps have a similar type team to the Sens, but with more skill and firepower up front (though I think their grinders are not as skilled as the Sens' were). n If we sit back and defend as much against the Caps, we'll get burned, even with Hank in net. I also think we need to respond better to any physical challenges if they happen early in the series. I wouldn't mind having to kill tough "beat your ass down" penalties, or even giving up a few PP goals that cost us a game, if it means we set the tone that we will not be physically intimidated (which I think we were for games 2, 3 and 4). Kreider seems the real sdeal huh? I didn't niotice him stand out this much in BC from what I've watched.

Also want to comment on the Sens behavior (particularly Anderson and Neil) after the game. Classy. Anderson was obviously upset, left the ice, and eventhough he did, and would seemingly be ostricized for it, he came back out to shake hands. Neil also, seemed genuine on the handshake line, especially with the Rangers tough guys, and DelZotto, whom had what was tantamount to an on ice blood fued for 7 games. Also think Tim Thomas showed the same class in the handshakes with the Caps, and then went over to what was an obviouysly upset little kid in the front row to cheer him up. That elevated him to a whole nother level in my mind.

So, round 2, here's what I think:
Flyers 4 Devils 2 (tough but fair series, not like the last one for the Flyers)
Rangers 4 Caps 3 (another nail/finger biter, with a couple of OT games)
Kings 4 Blues 2 (Kings run continues with Quick standing on his head and Doughty being the diff maker)
Nashville 4 Yotes 0 (Mike Smith miracle in the desert ends)

Just grabbed the hockeymonkey 199 special and had them add "Prust 8" as per your reco Gome...how long did the jersey take to get?

Those were Tim Thomas' kids he went up to at the glass. Just FYI.

That pic is awesome.

Philly is gonna kill New Jersey. 4 straight or 4-1.
NYR vs Wash is gonna be tight...probably 4-3 Wash. I think the last series is going to give Caps a lot of confidence.

STL 4-2 over LAK. STL is going to win it all...they look so tough and have excellent coaching.
Preds over Yotes in 4-1. I don't care....this has to be the most boring playoffs series in a decade.

hahaha, sorry tallon; you should be happy your OT-loss buffed losing record holding collection of cap-floor-necessity FA signings even made it to the first round. i tuned in 10 seconds before henrique ended it; poor fucking theodore, that is the worst feeling ever and you could just tell how deflating it is. similar to miller in olympics 2010; just sucks the wind right out of you.

i think NYR has it pretty well figured out:

PHI > NJ in 6
NYR > WAS in 6

NSH > PHX in 5
LA > STL in 7

the only one i'm unsure of is LA / STL. probably the closest matchup we'll see and to be perfectly honest the only reason i picked LA is because of their prominent playoff dudes like mike richards.
