As much as I hate to see a guy's career in jeopardy, when Pronger was shut down for the season, I sighed. I hate having to watch the Rangers play against him because I always know he's trying to hurt guys.

I like D. Brown, but he dives a lot. I don't necessarily dislike some of the guys who dive but I don't like the diving. Guys like Pronger, Marchard, and Cooke (prior to this year) who want to end guy's career I want out of the league. I've never bought into the "You'd take him on your team in a minute!" bullshit homers throw out about guys like that. I wouldn't and players who want to injure guys have no place in the NHL.

You're a Habs fan right? I don't think they've had a player close to that in a long time. How do you feel about Ulf Samuelsson. I loved him, even before he was a Ranger, and I know he had a rep as a dirty player.

Habs haven't had a dirty player in awhile which is OK in my book. I wish we would have had a more physical presence, even a borderline player, ver the last five years though. The NHL got much more physical and we got smaller and that's why were in the shape were in now. But I'm happy management has stayed away from guys who go over the edge.

My opinions on Ulf are divided. He's absolutely reviled in Boston, which I find laughable considering their longstanding penchant for embracing dirty players and dirty plays. At the same time, that guy was like Dale Hunter for me -- talented, useful and incredibly tough to play against but he just went over the line way too often. If the hit on Neely would have been a one-off thing I might not be as tough on him, but he made a habit out of going knee-on-knee.

I know. I feel it wasn't cause he wanted to hurt guys, but because he played a bit recklessly, even positionally, and when he'd get caught, he'd plop out the knee...

I don't disagree but he never learned from his mistakes, which is problematic. I do think he has been disproportionally vilified due to the hit on Neely. It was a bad hit, but it's been overblown in Boston and by Neely himself, mostly because many Bruins fans believed that it robbed their team of future Cups that were sure to be won during Neely's tenure. I think that's BS, because nothing in Neely's career showed him to be anything but a choker but it's it is what it is and Ulf has payed for it.

I think Caps/Bruins and NYR/Ottawa will be better than the opposite matchups which I think would have been sweeps (or close to) in both cases.

Rangers came out in the first looking dead, like a practice game...cost em. I know Ottawa had our number this season but I see this being a quick series, sweep or at most over in 5. Devils/Panthers...yawn

Oh yeah...it's gonna be bad.

Here's hoping things end up like they did the last time the Devils played the Panthers in the first round....

Thanks Caps and Cap'n Hank.

I know the President's Trophy doesn't mean much but its better than not winning it.

Hahaha... see, homer comments come from anywhere. Most people believe that PK Subban is one of the dirtiest players in the league, as well as a total d-bag which doesn't help his reputation. And while Plekanec has been pretty clean for 2 or 3 seasons now, he used to have a rep for using his skates - slewfooting, kicking and stepping on guys.

As for the President's it doesn't mean much, except for home ice and the fact that it's not easy to do. There have been 4 back to back winners of that prize before the Canucks - 3 of the 4 have lost in the playoffs in the first year, only to win in the second. The fourth team was the Detroit Red Wings, who came up short in 95 and 96 before winning back to back cups in 97 and 98 and starting a dynasty. Basically, if you do this, you're a pretty good hockey team. Doesn't happen twice by fluke.

Meanwhile the entire west is tough. The team with the easiest go of it might actually be Chicago in the 6th seed. The east is pretty tough too but I think the Bruins are in the best spot to win there, followed by the Rangers followed by the Devils. In the West, after CHI over PHX, it's hard to even pick the next one in line for "best odds".

My hometown biased predictions:

We were talking about dirty players who try to injure guys. The Habs have had plenty of pests/embellishers/divers over the years but no one in the Marchand/Kaleta/Cooke/Downie category.

PK's reputation is overblown. He's had some slewfoot incidents, but he hasn't injured anyone and he lays clean hits. The only player he ever injured was Jordan Staal, which was accidental. But don't let that get in the way of your rant.
Plekanec was stomping on guys at some point? News to me. Sounds like bullshit you just made up on the spot, but feel free to bring out examples of when this happened. I won't be holding my breath...

You have to be the most worthless poster in this thread. No intelligence, no knowledge of hockey, nothing to add to the discussion. Just some dumb "fan" who thinks he knows shit.

AR6, your bracket sucks because we need to face the ChiHawks in the 2nd round again. But I agree with your SCF matchup and result (100% bias)
