Linen shirt fit

Are linen shirts supposed to fit baggier than cotton shirts or is it the same fit for both fabrics?

Thanks!

Yes, I certainly think so. I also prefer not to tuck in linen shirts. It's meant to be casual, and in my opinion the nature of the material makes it look bad tucked in because it doesn't drape as well. That said, the ones I find OTR are almost always enormous, too baggy and too long to look decent.

Any pics of a decent looking fit? How long should it be? How tight around the waist?

yes, loose fitting.

Ignore the material for the moment.

Why are you buying a linen shirt? That should guide the fit .

If you're in a hot weather area the big baggy fit will keep the shirt off you a bit. It'll create an air pocket. Both pluses when the air temp is higher then body temp.

If you intend to wear it to the beach then take that into account.

Baggy shirts look awful on me so I like my linen ones to just fit similarly to all my other shirts.

Here's how mine fits me. It's cut shorter because it is not meant to be tucked in. Because it is not for tucking in, it is also not necessary to make it as tapered (to prevent the billowing around the beltline).

Definitely looser, but not too baggy.

+1 I have three or four MTM linen shirts from Mytailor, got the same fit as my cotton shirts and they look great. Linen can look like it fits looser because it hangs differently but definitely do not get a baggy fit.

Hymo, how do you like the stuff? I've yet to get my own length made up =\

It's a very nice linen, very fine and light as is typical for the Irish stuff. I had the tailor use non-fused cotton muslin as interlining so it wears very soft.

The linen should be laundered before making up to remove the sizing.

Definitely wear it loose and bespoke tailoring is everywhere nowadays..
