Rugby fits close to custom fit, slimmer in a lot of cases. So you're a small for sure. And read through this thread, its been discussed countless times

Yeah, I think I'll just take my chances with a small for now, see how that works. If the small is TOO loose I'll make it a mental note to buy xs from them in the future. Would be a shame if I had to return 10 size small shirts by mail though :/

lol I can't ask prior to buying? I didn't say I'd be against buying an xs, It's just that reading through this thread I've seen conflicting views on how Rugby fits. Some feel like their stuff fits exactly like PRL custom fit. Others feel like Rugby might be a tad bit loose and buying a size smaller will give you the same effect as a custom fit polo.

If I lived in a city with a Rugby store I wouldn't be making posts asking what their fits are like. In fact, if PRL would just provide accurate sizing info on their custom fit shirts I could've easily applied that to Rugby's sizing chart and been done with it all.

Then order both sizes. Returns are free most of the time, if not it's $5 to send it back.

Newb, you'll always get conflicting opinions on sizing, measurements, etc so take it all with a grain of salt. You should order from rugby.com and then refund if it doesnt fit. Worse case scenario, it doesnt fit, but you get your money back. If you do order, post your findings here. Most of the newer members spend a week asking for suggestions and recommendations, and then peace out. These are also the same idiots who are too lazy to read the thread for the answers they are searching for.

From what I've owned, almost all Rugby is made in China. They had a few oxfords made in Hong Kong three years back maybe. Blazers/sport coats and selvedge denim are the only made in USA/Italy items I've seen

That was the first year they had Caruso making their suits, so I'm not sure if you should expect them to do so again or not, hard to say. In my mind, it would be smart for them to do so again. They have been on/off each year with suits - i remember two years ago the selection was very small in terms of suits. Their 'Haberdashery Shop' only started last February (2011)
I've found everything except for coats/hats/shoes etc. are slimmer. however if you wear a 38 suit it might be smart to still buy a 38 - even though it is slimmer 40 is just too big. In terms of sweaters - they are mostly slim to the degree of custom-fit at Polo RL. The shirts are a bit more slim than Custom-Fit Polo and anything at J Crew, whereas the Rugbys are very slim compared to Polo RL and J Crew. Best way to tell if its for you is to try some on.
If you need slimmer than J Crew - then head over to Rugby.

Did the rugby suit/sportcoat actually fit you? I thought this was the most bizzare fit Id ever encountered - really small chest with really wide shoulders. Ive owned carusos of all iterations and never anything like this.

Yeah the suit fit remarkably well, my tailor took a look at the jacket on me and said don't change a thing - I had another 36R suit from a few years back, so I was fairly sure I would get that response since I was told the same for the last one.

The shoulders were not very wide for me, it passed the 'wall test' and the only real issue I have is just the length of the jacket being a bit shorter than expected. All is good though, it still looks beautiful and got compliments all around for it from peers. Unless your build is vastly different than mine: 5'10" - 135lb - small framed - small shoulders - then a 36R might not fit right and the shoulders may be pushing out - making them seem wide. Otherwise, for me the suit is pretty much perfect.

I'm around 17.5-18 inches.

Size 30 trousers, fit well for me, not too tight.
