University Oxford shirt M

Shoulder: 17.25
Length: 31
Sleeve Length: 25.5

Thanks dude! Seems Rugby sizing is smaller than RRL.

i guess it's more of a slim fit as RRL is meant to be a western-cowboy style fit.

It really depends on the item. Some times RRL has slimmer fitting shirts than Rugby RL. I know my RRL shirt which is tagged M is much smaller and tighter on my body than a Rugby Shirt tagged S.

Years $$$$$ of experience.

Anyway, it really depends sometimes, I think that particular shirt ran small. It looked like this but has a giant graphic on the back as well.

Dont know how that eBay seller is selling them for so cheap though they run for $85 or something at the store. I think I got mine for around $40 was a while ago that I did. The first time I saw it the SA told me its a discontinued shirt and that at $85 it was a steal. I figured it was BS so i didn't buy it from him. Instead I waited it out and saw that they sold other variations and it was not going out of stock any time soon, had a friend buy it for me and send it over. The SA even tried telling me that RRL was changing its business and direction and even the logo, I just smiled and nodded as I backed out of the store.

Its sad when a customer knows more about the products and business than the employee...Still puzzled as to why I was passed for that corp job I interviewed with them for...

i agree with u on this point. this doesn't happen to onnly RL but generally in all these big retailer stores. A lot of times i think the SA doesn't really know what they are talking about and they would make up stories about things that they don't know about. It is sad, but I guess only if you know it you'll know they are BSing, otherwise some random person would still believe what they said. Afterall, part of the business is about how you "persuade" the person to buy the product. lol.

The following are an RRL (100% wool) sweater and a Rugby (80% wool) sweater. RRL msrp = $350; Rugby msrp = $150

Obviously the RRL seems better (heftier gauge; beefier collar; material looks richer), but is it substantially better to justify the $200 differential?

Has anyone seen or felt either of these in person?

i own the RRL version ... cant say anything about the rugby one since i havent seen it or handled it

yes check RRL thread cuz i have a pic wearing it

i love mine. fits really well and its very substantial yet stretchy and form fitting. will def keep me warm for a long time. as for is it worth it in comparison to rugby? honestly probably not but that can be said about any piece that looks similar from PRL and Rugby to RRL/BL/PL

Well for the most part RRL is above excellent quality with their products.

If you look at the main factors:

  • 100% Wool
  • Thicker Rounder Collar
  • Jersey Knit Elbow Patch vs Rugby's Leather Elbow Patch

Then the price on sale for $207 at RRL -15% Discount makes it: ~175
Vs.
Rugby's isn't on sale at $148 with -15% Discount makes it: ~125

You are looking at a ~$50 difference.

I say go for the RRL, unless you prefer the leather elbow pads the Rugby one offers.

Took full advantage of Rugby sale, got 2 pairs of University Slim Chinos, University Khaki Shorts, Grey Cashmere V-neck sweater and the navy/yellow/maroon flannel using a US Shipping forwarder.. worked out at around $330 all up (if I bought equivalent products in Australia it would be at least $600). Can't wait for them to arrive.
