'Go to first new post' button should remember last page (in thread) viewed, not just last time...

I raised this issue in the 'what have you done..' thread, but I think (hopefully others feel the same) that this deserves it's own thread. Unlike the old forums which presumably runs on more inefficient code, this bulletin software seems capable enough that it can remember whether a specific thread (however old) has been viewed by a specific member, so could I request that the feature be extended to remember which page in that thread a member has viewed up till? It would make the 'view new post' function vastly more important, since it'll actually make it useful for those megathreads.

In a more simple form, this is how it works currently,

click 'go to first new post' > goes to first new post > whole thread is marked as read > button stays grayed out until a post is made after the last time thread was viewed

this is how it should work (ideally)

click 'go to first new post' > goes to first new post in page x> thread marked as read until page x, pages x+1 even if pre-existing remains marked as 'new', clicking 'go to first new post' brings you to page x+1

in that whole sequence no 'new' post was actually made

I've raised the issue with Head-Fi.org, a high profile Huddler customer, and an admin says there's an existing ticket for this so I'm guessing others really want this implemented too. I don't know how the Huddler development process works but if there's a common code that they regular push out to their customers with bugfixes and such it'd be nice if this was included smile.gif

To be transparent - HeadFi and Styleforum are probably the biggest of the forums that the Huddler has aboard and live, right now. Since we are in transitionl, we are working closely with them to get things actually fixed, adjusted, etc...., incluidng customizations like the B&S section.

Apart from that, there are a lot of little fixes that come, with each new release, partially based on the "roadmap" of improvements, and partically based on partner (us) feedback and lobbying. A new version comes out every 2 weeks. You may notice some improvements to speed today already, (since a new version is coming out, or has come out., today.

Cheers,

Fok.
